According to the latest assessments from the General Directorate of Meteorology, while air temperatures across the country are expected to continue to remain above seasonal norms, thunderstorms are forecast to be effective in many provinces, including Istanbul, on Sunday.
According to the latest weather forecasts by the General Directorate of Meteorology, the northern parts of the country and the Mediterranean are expected to be partly cloudy, with occasional very cloudy conditions. Localized showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Taurus Mountains region of the Mediterranean, the eastern Black Sea coast, and the surroundings of Ordu, Artvin, Kars, and Ardahan, as well as in the western parts of Istanbul and the northern parts of Çanakkale. In other regions, the weather is forecast to be partly cloudy and clear.
THUNDERSTORMS ARE COMING
According to the published weather forecast map, the rainy weather is expected to expand its area of influence on Sunday. Thunderstorms are forecast to occur in 31 provinces, including Istanbul.
Localized thunderstorms are expected to be effective, particularly in Istanbul, and in the surroundings of Tekirdağ, Kırklareli, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Yalova, Bursa, Bilecik, Bolu, Düzce, Zonguldak, Bartın, Karabük, Kastamonu, Sinop, Samsun, Amasya, Çorum, Tokat, Ordu, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize, Artvin, Gümüşhane, Bayburt, Erzincan, Erzurum, Kars, Ardahan, and Ağrı.
AKOM GIVES DATE
The Disaster Affairs and Risk Management Department (AKOM) of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) shared its weekly weather forecast report for the city. In the statement, it was announced that no significant precipitation is expected during the week, except for brief and localized showers that are expected on Sunday.
According to AKOM's latest assessments, a mostly sunny sky is expected to prevail across Istanbul throughout the week. On Sunday, the weather is forecast to be partly cloudy with local rain showers, and precipitation amounts of 2-5 kg per square meter are expected.
The statement noted that the wind is expected to blow from the north-northeast (poyraz) in intermittent strong gusts (20-50 km/h), and that relatively cooler air coming from northerly directions will prevent temperatures from rising excessively, but air temperatures are still expected to remain in the 30-33 degrees Celsius range.
SHOWER PASSAGES WILL BE EFFECTIVE
According to information received from meteorology, local shower passages are expected at the beginning of the week in the eastern parts of Istanbul and around Kocaeli, Sakarya, Yalova, Bursa, and Bilecik. The rainy weather is expected to continue its effect in the form of thunderstorms, especially on the western, central, and eastern Black Sea coastline and inner parts (Düzce, Zonguldak, Bartın, Karabük, Kastamonu, Sinop, Samsun, Ordu, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize, Artvin, Amasya, Tokat, Gümüşhane, Bayburt) and in the northeast of Eastern Anatolia (Erzincan, Erzurum, Kars, Ardahan, Ağrı).

"DUST TRANSPORT" WARNING FOR SOUTHEAST
Meteorology officials reported that dust transport is expected in the eastern part of Southeastern Anatolia and warned citizens to be careful and take precautions against possible adverse conditions such as decreased visibility and reduced air quality.
