In an operation against the terrorist organization ISIS in Istanbul and Adana, 10 suspects were detained. Police teams, having accessed information that propaganda for ISIS was being conducted through a social media account and that funds were being raised under the guise of providing assistance to organization members and their families detained in Iraq and Syria, carried out simultaneous operations at the identified addresses.
Simultaneous operations were carried out by the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch, coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, at designated addresses in Istanbul and Adana. As a result of the operation, 10 suspects were detained.
ACTION WAS TAKEN AFTER THE SHARING
As part of the efforts to uncover and prevent the financial activities of the ISIS Armed Terrorist Organization; it was obtained that propaganda for the ISIS Armed Terrorist Organization was being made through a social media account, funds were being collected under the pretext of providing assistance to the organization members and their families detained in Iraq and Syria, and the collected money was being transferred to the organization members and their families.
SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION
As a result of the conducted studies; a simultaneous operation was carried out at designated addresses in Istanbul and Adana to capture the suspects who were making propaganda for the organization through a social media account and facilitating the collection of money through an account belonging to a different individual, and who were transferring money to that account.
A LARGE NUMBER OF SUSPECTS DETAINED
While 10 suspects were detained, the investigation regarding the captured suspects is ongoing.
