Kayseri Erciyes University canceled the conference on 'Gaza and Palestine' organized by Ahmet Davutoğlu, the Chairman of the Future Party. The Deputy Chairman, Mustafa Gözel, described the university's action as disrespectful in a post on his social media account.
The Kayseri Erciyes University has stated that it canceled the conference on "Gaza and Palestine" by the Chairman of the Future Party, Ahmet Davutoğlu. The Deputy Chairman of the Future Party, Gözel, said, "This disrespect is also contrary to state etiquette."
The Deputy Chairman of the Future Party, Mustafa Gözel, announced on his social media account X that Kayseri Erciyes University did not allow the conference of the Future Party's Chairman, Ahmet Davutoğlu, on "Gaza and Palestine."
"I KNOW THESE TRICKS WELL"
Gözel noted the following in his post:
"The 26th Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Professor Doctor Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, was invited by the students of Kayseri Erciyes University some time ago, and he was requested to give a conference titled 'Seeking Justice and Diplomacy in the 21st Century' with the motto 'A Moral Stance Against Genocide' focusing on Gaza and Palestine.
The program, which we agreed upon for the day and time, completely distanced from domestic politics, was unfortunately canceled. Why, you ask? Because the university administration, upon learning about the program, instructed the deans by calling them, saying, 'Do not provide a hall for this program, do not even accept applications, say all halls are full.' My years have been spent with these organizations. I have given conferences at over fifty universities. I have organized nearly two hundred university programs. Therefore, I know these tricks well.
"THIS DISRESPECT IS ALSO CONTRARY TO STATE ETIQUETTE"
The actions of the Erciyes University Rectorate towards Mr. Davutoğlu, who is a scholar, are not only incompatible with the ethics of science but also disrespectful to a Prime Minister, which is contrary to state etiquette. Mr. Davutoğlu will give numerous conferences focused on Gaza at the universities and institutes he has been invited to in Oxford and London from October 16-21. It is an inexplicable absurdity for a state and scholar who receives invitations from almost every country and university in the world to be subjected to this in his own country's university."
