During the opening of the Nuri Great Mosque in Mosul, Governor Abdulkadir Dakhil apologized to the Yazidis for the phrase "A'udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim," which was recited during the recitation of the Quran, as it reflects a different approach due to their beliefs.
The reconstruction of the Nuri Alu Mosque, which was destroyed by ISIS in 2017 in the city of Mosul, Iraq, has been completed. The mosque, built in 1172 by Nur al-Din Zengi and known for its leaning minaret, is among the symbols of the city. Many people from different communities attended the opening of the reconstructed mosque.
A STRANGE APOLOGY FROM THE GOVERNOR OF MOSUL
During the opening ceremony, while the Quran was being recited, the hafiz said, "Euzubillahimineşşeytanirracim Bismillahirrahmanirrahim" (I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed devil), upon which the Governor of Mosul, Abdulqadir Dakhil, apologized to the Yazidis present at the ceremony. The reason for the governor's apology was the belief among Yazidis that the devil has been forgiven by Allah and is tasked with managing the affairs of the world.
According to journalist Turan Kışlakçı, the governor had to apologize once again shortly after. The reason for this was the Yazidis' claim that their devil is different from the Muslim devil.
