Presenter Ela Rümeysa Cebeci came to the courthouse for the second hearing of the case in which she and former Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Sadettin Saran are being tried on the charge of "trafficking in or supplying drugs or stimulant substances." Saran, who made his defense at the first hearing, did not attend the second hearing after the court accepted his request to be exempted from the hearings. Cebeci's account in court of her past relationship with Saran and the WhatsApp messages between them drew attention.
"SAADETTİN SARAN HAS BEEN IN MY LIFE FOR 7 YEARS"
In her defense in court, Cebeci stated that she had a relationship with Sadettin Saran spanning many years and said that their union continued as a romantic relationship for a period and as a friendship for another period.
Cebeci said, "Sadettin Saran has been in my life for 7 years. Part of it has been romance and part friendship. He is still very valuable to me."
MESSAGES HAD BEEN EXPOSED! "IT WAS A MOVIE LINE..."
Cebeci, who also clarified the WhatsApp correspondence that came up within the scope of the case, argued that the messages were written in the language of flirtation and humor between two people.
Cebeci said, "The WhatsApp messages between us are a language used by two people flirting and teasing each other; it is a language of humor. They are lines from films related to our memories and the movies we watched."
Stating that the correspondence was based on shared memories from the past and lines from the films they watched, Cebeci did not accept the accusatory interpretations regarding the content of the messages.
"I HAVE NEVER USED COCAINE IN MY LIFE"
Rejecting the drug accusations against her, Cebeci said that she had never received or used drugs from anyone to date. Arguing that no drugs were found in her home, on her person, or in samples taken from her, Cebeci said, "I did not take drugs from anyone. I did not use them. No drugs were found in my home, on my body, in my blood, or in my urine. I have never used cocaine or the like in my life."
"I DO NOT ACCEPT THE ACCUSATIONS, I REQUEST MY ACQUITTAL"
Continuing her defense, Cebeci touched on her lifestyle and profession and said, "I have an understanding of journalism lived with athlete discipline. I am extremely sorry for occupying you with such a matter."
Cebeci, stating that she did not accept the accusations against her, asked the court to acquit her.
