Pervin Buldan, a member of the DEM Party's İmralı delegation and a member of parliament, stated, "Öcalan is disturbed by the language of the media; the negative interpretations of the process are the government's issue because the media is in the hands of the AK Party." Regarding her remarks, which were interpreted as a call for intervention in the media, she said, "I said I would like to turn our language into a language of peace; my words were taken out of context."

Buldan, a member of the DEM Party, made a new statement regarding her comments that led to calls for media intervention.

Speaking to journalist Hilal Köylü, Buldan said, "I am very, very sorry. The words I said were taken out of context. I am open to criticism, but I am very much against lynching, which is very wrong. I said I would like to turn our language into a language of peace, and it was taken out of context. I have worked hard for press freedom. I never want the press to be silenced, would I? I would never say let the press be silenced. I want to call for building a language of peace; I never want the media to be silent, please let us promote peace. I do not say everyone should speak this way or that way..."

WHAT DID BULDAN SAY?

Buldan stated that the resolution process concerns all of Turkey and used the following expressions:

"I clearly expressed that many channels and commentators still continue the hostile language of the past and that the concerns of these circles are not about resolution and peace, but about rhetoric and enmity. The use of negative comments and expressions by some commentators, journalists, and channels against the process is not a problem we will solve. Because when we look at it, today the media is also in the hands of the government. We are talking about a power that has control over every aspect of life. Therefore, it is again the duty of the government to improve and eliminate all of this. But I also want to point out that no progress has been made in this regard."
