During the coronavirus pandemic, the Disinformation Combat Center denied claims that "the BioNTech vaccine did not arrive in Turkey." The statement said, "BioNTech mRNA vaccines developed against COVID-19 have been directly procured from BioNTech SE for clinical use."
During the coronavirus pandemic, a claim that emerged on social media regarding the BioNTech vaccine applied to citizens in Turkey stirred controversy. It was alleged that BioNTech vaccines never arrived in Turkey.
DENIAL OF THE CLAIM REGARDING THE BIONTECH VACCINE
A denial came from the Disinformation Combat Center regarding the claim. The statement included the following expressions: "Some social media platforms have made claims that 'the BioNTech vaccine did not come to our country' during the COVID-19 pandemic, which do not reflect the truth and contain disinformation aimed at misleading the public."
"IT HAS BEEN SUPPLIED IN ACCORDANCE WITH REGULATIONS"
The BioNTech mRNA vaccines developed against COVID-19 have been directly procured from BioNTech SE for clinical use. As part of the fight against the pandemic, these vaccines have been supplied in accordance with regulations and made available for our citizens' use from March 2021 until the later stages of the outbreak.
Furthermore, in global public health emergencies such as pandemics, the "Emergency Use Authorization" mechanism is implemented worldwide for the procurement of vaccines and medicines. BioNTech mRNA vaccines have also been procured and administered by our Ministry of Health's General Directorate of Public Health based on the emergency use authorization evaluations of the World Health Organization and international scientific authorities.
"DO NOT TRUST UNFOUNDED CLAIMS"
Therefore, all vaccination activities carried out during the pandemic have been meticulously conducted with the priority of protecting human health, based on scientific criteria, the principle of transparency, and legal regulations. It is strongly requested that the public does not trust claims that are misleading and carry unfounded characteristics, which have been circulated out of their technical and legal context."
