The statement of Tuğberk Yağız Gülter, the son of the singer Güllü who lost his life after falling from the window of his house in Yalova, drew attention at the prosecutor's office. Gülter said, "The words 'Are you going to jump from the window?' that I heard in the video are also spoken by my sister Tuğyan. In the voice recording I listened to, the phrases 'Is there a need?' or 'Is there a butterfly?' are spoken by my sister as well. The words I understood as 'Come here.' are also said by my sister."
Gül Tut, known as Güllü, died on September 26 after falling from the window of her apartment in a six-story building on Vali Akı Street in the Harmanlar neighborhood of Çınarcık district. Following the investigation initiated by the Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Güllü, who underwent an autopsy, was buried in Istanbul.
GÜLLÜ'S SON GAVE A STATEMENT TO THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE After technical and physical surveillance, the singer's daughter Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter and her friend Sultan Nur Ulu, who had previously given three different statements, were caught by the police in Istanbul while carrying suitcases. Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter was arrested on charges of 'intentional murder,' while Sultan Nur Ulu, who was placed under 'house arrest,' had her statement to the prosecutor revealed.
Tuğberk Yağız Gülter, who was called to give a statement as a complainant in the investigation, arrived at the Yalova Courthouse with his lawyer. Gülter provided a statement to the prosecutor for about 5 hours.
Stating that he was in Istanbul on the night of the incident, Gülter said, "My sister called me at night, screaming, 'Yağız, run, they say mom fell, mom is dead, run.' I hung up the phone. I called my spiritual father Emrah Erkut and told him to pick me up. He said, 'Come here, let's go together, calm down, who did you get this news from?' Then he said, 'God is great.' I tried to go to my spiritual father Emrah Erkut's house with my fiancée Sena by car, but I got lost on the way. Later, I called my neighbor Murat, who lives on the lower floor. I asked about the incident. I asked if my mother was alive. Murat brother told me, 'You need to come here, son.' When I asked again, he said, 'My condolences.'
"I CAN WATCH THE CAMERAS IN THE HOUSE ONLINE" Stating that he could watch the cameras in the house online, Gülter said: "I could watch the cameras in the house online, and even while I was on the road, the police chief called me. I told him I could record the footage, and then I told him where they should get the camera cards. When I arrived at the hospital, I gave my phone to the officials. While I was on the road, the police chief called me and asked if there were memory cards for the cameras in the house and how to get them. I explained it to him. He even asked if I could watch the footage of the incident online when I got to the hospital.
"THERE WERE 5 CAMERAS IN MY MOTHER'S HOUSE" I also gave him my phone. I told him that if they hadn't removed the memory cards, they could watch as much as they wanted from my phone. The law enforcement officer there said they hadn't removed the memory cards. I showed him how they could watch from the phone I had given him, and then I went to my sister. I came to Yalova in Emrah Erkut's car.
My fiancée Sena also came with Emrah's wife in her company car. Emrah didn't want me to drive. As far as I know, there were 5 cameras in the house that could record. I had bought a total of 10 cameras for my mother. I installed two of them in my own house. There were 5 cameras in my mother's house. I remember that 3 of them were idle, and 1 was broken. I think 3 were just sitting there, not installed."
"SHE WAS UNCONSCIOUS WHEN I WENT TO MY SISTER" Stating that Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter was unconscious when he went to her, Yağız Gülter said, "When I went to my sister, she was unconscious, then she woke up. She told me, 'They said mom is in intensive care, still say she is there.' I told her, 'My condolences.' She screamed and then fainted again. After that, I went outside the hospital. My mother and Tuğyan used to argue frequently, but these arguments never turned into physical violence. My mother drinks alcohol. My mother used to drink alcohol every day. As far as I remember, she would order 12 or 24 beers in the market orders. After finishing these, if the conversation continued, she would keep drinking."
"I SAW SULTAN PHYSICALLY FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER THE INCIDENT" Gülter stated that he saw Sultan Nur Ulu for the first time on the day of the incident and that she had argued with his mother due to a drug case, and that Güllü's former manager and assistant Çiğdem E. called him because of this incident, indicating that Güllü and her former assistant Çiğdem had become closer. Gülter continued his words as follows: "I hadn't gone to Çınarcık at all until 1.5 months before my mother's death. I saw Sultan physically for the first time after the incident. Only Sultan's name was mentioned when I was talking to my mother on the phone. When I asked what she was doing on the phone, she would say, 'What can we do, Sultan and your sister are sitting together, she is a bit strange, she has lost her mother. She is currently staying with us, from now on she is with us, she is entrusted to us.' That's how she would talk about Sultan. That's how I know Sultan.
I have known Çiğdem sister since the middle of 2018, the year I started university, or since the beginning of 2019. She is our neighbor. In fact, my grandmother and Çiğdem sister knew each other. Çiğdem sister has been living in our apartment for many years, but I had never had a conversation with her. After university, we had a conversation. The reason is this; When I was in Istanbul, my mother was in Çınarcık. I think there had been a previous argument regarding my drug case. My mother was very upset. Somehow, after this argument, Çiğdem sister tried to calm my mother down.
She probably called me by getting my number from my mother and said to me, 'You had an argument with your mother, she is very upset, don't upset her, are you coming here?' That's how our conversation with Çiğdem sister started. As far as I know, after this incident, Çiğdem sister and my mother became close, they were together in what they ate and drank, she started to do both her assistant and management, meaning they had a very close relationship. In fact, my mother had rented a shop in Fethiye. They had operated it together with Çiğdem sister. I do not know of any relationship other than friendship between Çiğdem sister and my mother. My sister never mentioned it, and I had never witnessed such a thing.
"MY SISTER IS FIGHTING" In fact, when I was around 10 years old, my mother introduced the person she lived with, İlker Karaman, to me with words like 'My friend, my closest friend. Your Uncle İlker.' So I wasn't really interested in my mother's personal relationships. Before Mr. İlker, my mother was with another man named Erdoğan, and we were living in Istanbul at that time. I was even younger then, and my mother had introduced Erdoğan to me as 'dad.' What I remember from that time is that my mother was being beaten. I have never heard or witnessed my mother having any lesbian relationships. I didn't care about any of my mother's relationships, and I never talked about such topics with my sister; we never really got along since childhood. My sister is different from me; she is more combative, even her understanding of fun is different; she loves going out, having fun, and drinking, while I do not. I also do not like my sister's circle of friends. We often argue about any topic.
(left) Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter "I WAS TOLD THAT MY MOTHER IS SAID TO HAVE COMMITTED SUICIDE, AND THEY TOLD ME I SHOULD MAKE A STATEMENT, SO I DID" Gülter stated that he made a statement after being told that there were claims about his mother's suicide and that he needed to clarify the situation, saying, "When I went to Yalova State Hospital, Sultan was with my sister, but I don't know if my sister wanted Sultan to be there or if he came on his own; however, Sultan was always there. Later, when I learned that my mother was in the morgue, I went to her. Then some people came to me. I don't remember who they were. They told me, 'It is said that your mother committed suicide; you need to make a statement.' I said, 'You write something.' They wrote it down, and I read this statement. A video was recorded," he said.
"I DIDN'T HAVE MY KEY, I ENTERED THROUGH THE WINDOW" Gülter explained that he did not have the house key and therefore entered by breaking the window, saying, "It is said that I was in shock, which is true because I am struggling to accept that my mother has died. Then people around me asked me where the condolence house would be. They told me it would be at the deceased's house. That's why I answered that way. We needed to get into the house in Çınarcık, but I didn't have the key, and my sister had left the house without taking anything. She was in that state at the hospital. The police had also left after examining the scene. They didn't have a key either. I even called the company that made this coded door, but when I couldn't reach them, I sent a message on Instagram. As a result, since I couldn't reach the guys, I thought I could enter through our neighbor Seval aunt's terrace.
I couldn't inform the locksmith because this door was not a normal door; it was a coded door, and I think they needed to completely remove the door. I knocked on Seval aunt's door. It was bright outside; the sun had risen, and it was early. I explained the situation to Seval aunt. I said I would try to enter our house from the terrace. She allowed me. I didn't have a bag or anything with me; I only had a black coat on. Our window was double-glazed; the first layer broke with my first punch. When I got cuts from the glass, I took off my coat and hit it with my coat. When that didn't work, I took a stone from Seval aunt's flower pot and broke the glass that way and got inside.
As soon as I entered, I opened the street door because there were Yusuf, Dilek sister, Emrah brother, and some others I don't remember in front of the door. They entered as soon as I opened the door. I looked into Tuğyan's room where the incident took place, but I didn't fully enter. I closed the door. Then I went to the kitchen. In the living room, there was a wine glass on the coffee table. It was half full of wine. I don't remember if there was anything else. There was an ashtray, and there were things like appetizers on the tray. I even took the wine glass and brought it to the kitchen. I told Sena to remove these drinks, prayers would be read in the house, and to put them in Karmen's room, etc. I also looked into my mother's room and closed the door after looking in.
"I DID NOT TAKE ANY VALUABLE ITEMS FROM THE HOUSE" Gülter explained that he did not take any valuable items from the house, saying, "There is a small safe in my mother's room. However, since the handle and lock of this safe were broken, my mother would not keep money or gold there. She always wore the bracelets she bought on her wrist. I took the green backpack from my mother's safe. This backpack is still in my house. Inside this backpack were my grandmother's cut hair, my mother's bank account books, papers, song lyrics written by my mother, and documents related to copyright, as well as my mother's old marriage certificate. There were also the title deeds of the old lands my mother had sold through my father. Again, there were papers like a sales document or power of attorney related to the house my mother lived in. I took the backpack and brought it home, and it is just sitting there. There was no gold in my mother's house. As I said, she always carried everything on her wrist. As I mentioned, there was 250 TL, and that was in my mother's bag. I didn't take that either. I didn't take any other material things," he stated.
"I THINK MY MOTHER SAID 'SEE YOU LATER'" Gülter, who thinks that his mother said 'See you later' just seconds before the incident in the home security camera footage, continued his words as follows: "I listened to the audio recordings of my mother after she entered Tuğyan's room on the internet. I think the person who said 'See you later' is my mother, but I am not very sure. Because I listened to this a long time ago. It was during the early days of the incident. I just passed it off as my mother. I haven't listened to it again recently; I didn't analyze it for a long time. The words 'Is everyone okay? What is that? Wow, look at the crazies. Come, come. Girl, come here. Girl, come.' belong to my mother.
"'I WILL THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW' IS SAID BY TUĞYAN" Although I couldn't hear some sounds clearly, there are words spoken by my mother, but I can't hear them clearly due to the music and noise. The voice you heard as 'Let me go' also belongs to my mother. Sultan's voice saying 'I don't know how to play' belongs to Sultan. The words I heard in the video, 'I will throw it out the window, will you jump out the window?' are said by my sister Tuğyan. Again, in the audio recording I listened to, the words I heard as 'Is there a need?' or 'Is there a butterfly?' are said by my sister. The words I understood as 'Come here' are also said by my sister. I associate the words 'See you later' at the end of the video with both my mother's voice and Tuğyan's voice. I cannot say anything definitive on that matter. I mentioned the voices in this audio recording that I think definitely belong to my mother.
"I can't clearly specify who the last sentence 'see you later' belongs to," he said.
"WE WOULD PLAY A FEW FIGURES WHEN WE TURNED ON THE MALKATA MUSIC" Gülter stated that they would play a few figures when his mother seemed to lose herself on stage by turning on the malkata music, saying, "If my mother was going to the market or to the cinema, she wouldn't drink; she drinks on stage. In fact, once she tripped on the stairs while coming down from the stage and sprained her arm. Sometimes my mother seems to lose herself when coming down from the stage. At that time, we would turn on the malkata music and after making a few figures for my mother, I would carry her on my shoulder and say, 'Come on, you won't come down from the stage; I'll take you down.' There was a time when my mother sprained her arm, and I wasn't there. My mother is always afraid of windows; she even tells the cleaning lady, 'Be careful, I don't want to see it; go to the window after I leave.' She can't stand to see it and doesn't let anyone near the window. Because my mother fell on the glass before and cut her arm, she has been afraid of glass and heights ever since. She always worries about an accident happening. She is also afraid of open windows. She doesn't easily approach, but she does so in necessary situations like closing it or drawing the curtain," it was learned.
"MY MOTHER MAY HAVE WANTED TO CLOSE THE WINDOW THAT NIGHT" Gülter mentioned that there could be three reasons for his mother being by the window that night, saying: "There could only be three reasons for my mother to be by the window despite it being open that day. The first reason could be that she wanted to close the open window. Because as I said, she was afraid of open windows; she may have wanted to close it. The second reason could be that there was really a small bug like a butterfly, as she said, and she may have wanted to take it out without killing it. The third reason is that someone may have taken her to the window in some way.
Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter and Tuğberk Yağız Gülter Because my mother would never go to that narrow open window without any reason; if she wanted to play, she would want to go to a wider area. My sister constantly smokes in the room. That's why the window is always open. Since my mother doesn't like the smell of smoke, she usually tells my sister things like, 'You've made the room smell of smoke again, open the window.' Tuğyan's bed in Tuğyan's room was actually parallel to the window a week ago. Then they placed the bed vertically to the window. Just like it was at that moment. I guess my mother thought my sister would sleep like a madwoman and wanted the bed to be changed that way. My mother doesn't allow the bed to be that way."
"MY MOTHER HATED KERVAN" Gülter stated that his mother hated his sister's ex-fiancé, Kervan, using the following expressions: "My mother hated Kervan. There are a few reasons for this. The first reason is Tuğyan. Tuğyan clears her surroundings for the man in her life. She confronts everyone. When my mother and Kervan first met, they got along well. Then something happened. One day while my mother was on stage, Kervan's uncle went to the front table to meet my mother. In stage culture, there is something like this; when the person sitting at the front table counts the money and throws it, that money is given to the artist and the band. During such a stage moment, Kervan's uncle was sitting at the front and throwing money. At that moment, my mother went to Kervan's uncle and said, 'Come on, if your money is finished, bring the post machine.' Because of this incident, Kervan and my sister Tuğyan had an argument.
In fact, later, while Tuğyan was talking to Kervan from inside the car, my mother thought Kervan was harming Tuğyan and damaged Kervan and his car; she even remembered the car's license plate. Later, Kervan told Tuğyan, 'Your mother sold you for money.' I met with all three of them and fixed this situation. In fact, there are messages that my sister sent to Tuğyan.
After this incident, my sister tried to jump out of the window. This is the suicide issue. Previously, I had heard from my mother that my sister was pregnant with twins from Kervan, but I don't know if my sister lost the babies or had them aborted in the hospital, but I heard about the pregnancy process from my mother this way. My sister loved Kervan. In my sister's suicide incident, she went to the window and told my mother, 'You killed me, you embarrassed me.'
"SHE COULD KILL MY MOTHER FOR KERVAN" Gülter stated that he thought his sister could kill his mother for Kervan, saying, "My sister clears her surroundings for the man in her life. My sister loved Kervan very much. My mother and Kervan had a bad relationship due to Kervan being married and the dialogue he had with his uncle. Tuğyan can do anything for Kervan. There is nothing she wouldn't do for him. In fact, she behaves this way in all her relationships. She can do anything for the man in front of her. I don't want to take responsibility, but she could kill my mother for Kervan. Because my sister is a weak character in relationships. She can do anything for Kervan. It was the same in her previous relationships. I learned about the relationship between my sister and Bircan for the first time on television. However, when I read the messages that my sister allegedly sent to Bircan, I said these are my sister's sentences. I believe my sister definitely sent these messages to Bircan," it was learned.
"WHEN I ASKED IF SHE SAW MY MOTHER FALLING, SHE SAID SHE SAW HER DRESS" Gülter stated that he asked his sister if she saw their mother fall from the window, saying: "After this incident, when I asked Tuğyan if she saw my mother falling, she told me that she saw either my mother's foot or part of her dress while she was falling from the window. She told me this in the first weeks after the incident. I asked her if she saw my mother falling. She said to me, 'Yağız, I don't remember. I saw either her dress or her foot.' I didn't ask Tuğyan about the details of the incident.
I didn't ask how my mother got to the window, where Sultan was, or where Tuğyan was standing, or what happened on the day of the incident. I only asked if she saw my mother falling. I also asked, 'Isn't the last song the song for my mother's descent from the stage?' She said, 'Yes, malkata.' I hadn't asked Tuğyan how they played the malkata, who requested it. However, 2-3 days ago, I asked Çiğdem sister questions to clear my doubts, like 'Did my sister listen to this malkata on other days, why did they turn on the malkata at the moment of the incident?'
Çiğdem also told me that my sister occasionally listened to this song. My mother loved malkata very much. I think she went to that room because malkata was playing.
Because she couldn't resist the song Malkata. Everyone knows that my mother loved Malkata and couldn't resist this song. She might have heard the sounds of playing as well. This could be the reason for going to the room.
"MY MOTHER TOLD ME SHE USED DRUGS 2-3 DAYS BEFORE SHE DIED" Gülter stated that Sultan Nur Ulu told him she used drugs 2-3 days before the incident, saying, "I met Sultan on the day of the incident, the day of the funeral, and the day of condolence, and I didn't ask her anything about the incident at that time. I only asked about the accident that happened to her and her mother since we hadn't spoken face to face before. During those days, the topic of giving hair for a drug test was also discussed. Sultan was afraid to give hair because she was using drugs. Just before my mother died, she told me she used drugs 2 or 3 days prior. For this reason, she was worried about whether it would show up in the hair test."
"MY SISTER IS A LIAR" Gülter stated that his sister is a liar, saying, "Let me also say that I know for sure from my mother that Tuğyan has used drugs in the past. I know that my mother tried very hard to get her to quit drugs. According to Tuğyan's own statement, she quit using drugs 5-7 years ago and says she hasn't used it since. However, I must also say this. My sister is someone who lies a lot; one out of ten of her words is a lie. She lies a lot. I noticed that Tuğyan never left Sultan's side, but this is my sister's general nature. When my sister becomes friends with someone, she never leaves them. It's the same in her relationships," he said.
"WHEN I SAW MY SISTER'S SADNESS, I DIDN'T THINK OF SUCH A THING" Gülter conveyed that his suspicions were not frequent regarding his sister's sadness, saying, "Actually, I had suspicions during this process. My suspicions would arise and then disappear. I didn't think my sister or Sultan would do such a thing. Because when I watched the videos, my sister was screaming a lot, she was very upset after the incident, constantly screaming, and seeing her sadness made me think she wouldn't do such a thing. However, my sister's personality, as I mentioned above, has a tendency to lie, loves her interests very much, and there is nothing she wouldn't do for her relationships. My sister would occasionally fight because of Kervan. She has an angry, aggressive, and quarrelsome nature. Now, thinking about all the events and Sultan's confession statement, I can't comprehend it; I don't want to believe my sister would do such a thing. I want to believe that these are not real. If she did, I will file a complaint. If my mother died due to a murder, I will file a complaint against everyone involved, those who thought about it, and those who participated. If there is nothing like this, I hope she proves herself. If there is such a thing, may they lie in their graves for the rest of their lives. Above all, if they come out, they will face me," he said.
'I WILL SEE HER FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER SHE WAS ARRESTED' Gülter stated that he will see his sister for the first time in the coming days after her arrest and that he is indecisive about the visit, saying, "I will see my sister for the first time this week after she was arrested, but I still haven't decided whether to go and see her or not. I don't know if I am ready to meet her; if I decide, we will meet."
"LET THE TRUTH COME OUT" Gülter expressed his desire for the truth to come out, saying, "I still don't know what the truth is, but I want the truth to come out. Tuğyan didn't say anything to me about pushing my mother after the incident; we didn't even talk about such a thing. In fact, I don't know if I will ask such a question if I go to the prison on Thursday. I am afraid of the answer I will give; I hope she hasn't done such a thing. I have no knowledge about their escape plans. In fact, when the audio recording about the escape was leaked to the media, I wrote to Tuğyan on WhatsApp, 'I just learned about this, what is this Georgia, France talk, where are you planning to escape to, why?' He didn't write anything back to me; then I called him, got angry, and he told me that there was no such escape plan, that the audio recordings were edited and served that way. I told him if there is an original, give it to me. I am ready to help in any way for the truth to come out, so you can also examine my phone," he said.
