They were acquired through personal savings and inheritance. I do not have a crypto account.'
In the operations coordinated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and carried out by the Provincial Police Department's Financial Crimes Branch Directorate, 30 people, including Çankaya Municipality Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner and some municipal bureaucrats, were detained on charges of 'establishing a criminal organization,' 'being a member of a criminal organization,' 'accepting bribes,' 'giving bribes,' and 'tampering with tenders.'
HIS STATEMENT REVEALED
Çankaya Municipality Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner's statement given to the police has emerged.
When asked about his livelihood and assets, Güner said, 'I sustain myself with the mayor's salary and attendance fees from the municipal council. Additionally, I have rental income from an apartment inherited through inheritance. The residence address I provided as a declaration is registered in my name. I own a 3/4 share of an apartment in Keçiören district, which I stated was inherited, a 500-square-meter plot of land in Seferihisar district of Izmir province, and a vehicle of the Hyundai Bayon brand with license plate 06, which is registered in my name and used by my mother. All of these immovable and movable properties are assets I had before being elected as mayor. They were acquired through personal savings and inheritance. I have active credit cards and accounts at İş Bankası, VakıfBank, Finansbank, and Akbank. Additionally, an account was opened at Garanti Bank for the metropolitan municipality attendance fee. I do not have a crypto account.'
"IT WAS OPERATING THE SAME WAY BEFORE ME"
Answering the question about the tender procurement method and the determination of companies that will carry out the tender, Güner said, 'Throughout my tenure, the tender and procurement processes were not determined by me in terms of my duty and responsibility. After preparations and procedures are made by the relevant directorates, they are sent to the financial services directorate, and the tenders are conducted by the Central Purchasing Office. This method, which was operating the same way before me, continues after me. I have no knowledge or involvement in the preparation and execution of tenders. Therefore, I did not set any criteria.'
