Two people lost their lives and two others were injured in an explosion at a gas filling facility in the Salihli district of Manisa.
According to the information obtained, the incident occurred at the Kavas Gas Filling Facility located in the Atatürk Neighborhood of the Salihli district. An explosion occurred at the facility for a reason that has not yet been determined. A fire broke out at the facility following the explosion.
EXPLOSIONS HAPPENED ONE AFTER ANOTHER Upon the notification, numerous fire brigade, health, and related teams were dispatched to the region. While teams continued to intervene in the fire, which occasionally caused violent explosions, security measures were taken in the surrounding area.
2 DEAD, 2 INJURED As a result of the teams' efforts, the lifeless bodies of worker Servet Ekiz and 1 person whose identity could not be determined were reached. The 2 people injured in the explosion were taken to the hospital and put under treatment after the first intervention by health teams.
While the fire was brought under control with the intervention of the teams, cooling efforts continue. An investigation has been initiated into the incident, and the definitive cause of the explosion will be determined following the examinations to be conducted.
GOVERNOR AT THE SCENE Following the tube explosion and fire at the Kavas Oxygen Filling facility operating in Atatürk Neighborhood, Manisa Governor Vahdettin Özkan also went to the region and conducted examinations. Governor Özkan, who received information about the incident from officials, stated that the fire was being investigated in all its aspects.
"THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED" In his statement, Governor Özkan said, "First of all, condolences to our Salihli district. Unfortunately, a fire broke out in our Small Industrial Site around 08:30 today. All our units intervened in the fire. Interventions continued, especially with the fire brigade, forest units, AFAD, and other relevant units, as well as under the coordination of our police. As a result of the intervention, the fire was extinguished. According to initial determinations, 2 of our citizens were affected by the fire. They are at the State Hospital. There is no serious life-threatening condition for them. There is a remote effect. However, there are statements from the surrounding area that 2 people remained inside. Efforts regarding them are ongoing."
