DID ERDOĞAN'S MICROPHONE TURN OFF AT THE UN PODIUM?

In the middle of the speech, the microphone suddenly turned off. There was no sound during the last 1 minute and 40 seconds of Erdoğan's speech.

STATEMENT FROM THE COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTORATE

A formal statement regarding the issue came from the Communications Directorate. The statement indicated that speakers were given a 5-minute time limit, and therefore the microphone was turned off, and that there was no other situation.

The statement included the following expressions: "According to the procedures of the High-Level International Conference titled 'Finding a Solution to the Palestinian Issue and Implementing the Two-State Solution' held on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly, a time limit of 5 minutes is set for Heads of State and Government, and 3 minutes for other speakers.

Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's speech was also limited to a 5-minute duration within this framework. Therefore, it is not the case that our President was not allowed to speak or that his words were interrupted during the speech.

Our President's speech exceeded the designated time due to being interrupted by applause at times; as a technical regulation, the microphone automatically turned off at the end of the 5th minute. Our President completed his speech shortly after. Similarly, the microphone of the President of Indonesia was turned off in accordance with the same procedure during his speech.

Turkey is represented at the highest level at the UN General Assembly, as in every platform, and our President's speeches are followed as messages that shape the global agenda and resonate widely.
