The prosecutor's statement of Mabel Matiz has emerged

The Ministry of Interior has filed a criminal complaint against singer Mabel Matiz with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. In a statement from the ministry, it was said, "A criminal complaint has been filed by our Ministry of Interior against singer Mabel Matiz under Article 226 of the Turkish Penal Code to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office." Fatih Karaca, known as Mabel Matiz, came to give a statement at the cybercrime investigation office under police escort due to the lyrics of his song titled 'Perperişan'. After about an hour of giving his statement, the singer left the courthouse without making a statement.

'THERE IS NO INTENT OR PURPOSE CONTAINING OBSCENITY'

In his statement to the prosecutor, Mabel Matiz said, "The lyrics of the song 'Perperişan' belong to me. This song was published by me and my team with my consent on my Instagram and YouTube accounts. There is no intent or purpose containing obscenity in the lyrics of this song. I only performed this song once on September 8, 2025. After my words were misunderstood, I did not include it in any of my concerts. A French group asked me to write a song for their album by preparing the melody of this song with Turkish folk music lyrics. This song was written as a result. There is no special purpose in writing this song. I wrote this song for the same purpose as I write my other songs," he stated.

'THE PURPOSE OF MY MUSIC IS NOT TO LEAD NEGATIVELY'

Matiz continued in his statement, "The purpose of my music is not to trigger people or to lead them negatively, but rather to unite people and evoke good feelings. The lyrics 'Cici Toybebe' used in my song refer to a loved one in a more innocent sense. With the lyrics 'Diyo şeytan üstüne atla, sal kuşu hanesine', I meant 'to send news to your home'. My intention was definitely not to commit a crime. This song was recorded 1.5 years ago and has been listened to by thousands of people. I did not anticipate that it would create such an effect when I wrote the song. If I had heard even the slightest comment in that direction from the people I played it for before publishing, I would have removed the song immediately. I am a very sensitive person about these matters. I take the necessary initiative and make word changes in works that I think will evoke negative feelings. For example, in the folk song 'Dam Üstüne Çul Serer', I change the phrase 'Küçükten yar sevene cennete gönderseler' to 'Güzelden yar sevene cennete gönderseler' and sing it in my concerts. I have a high sensitivity in these matters. I will submit the footage related to this concert to the file. I regret it. I do not accept the accusations against me," he said.
