President Erdoğan, in an article he wrote for the American publication Newsweek, called for action regarding Palestine under Israeli occupation. In the article, Erdoğan stated, "Our call to the world’s nations is clear: Recognize the State of Palestine. Indeed, the recognition of Palestine is the strongest response that can be given against occupation, blockade, and oppression."

President Erdoğan, who traveled to the United States to attend the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) and engage in various discussions, wrote an article for the American publication Newsweek.

In the article, President Erdoğan addressed global and regional issues, particularly drawing attention to the oppression faced by the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. Erdoğan called on world states to recognize Palestine as a state.

"THE WORLD HAS BEEN FACING UNCERTAINTIES FOR A LONG TIME"

In the article, Erdoğan stated: "The world has been facing growing uncertainties and challenges for a long time. Conflicts, lawlessness, terrorist attacks, pandemics, climate disasters, and deepening injustices and inequalities are putting great pressure on the existing international order."

"TURKEY DOES NOT COMPROMISE ON A FOREIGN POLICY UNDERPINNED BY JUSTICE"

In contrast, Turkey is acting with a vision that prioritizes justice, peace, and solidarity in its foreign policy, without compromising its principles, even amidst comprehensive, complex, and painful crises, while also considering its own security and the common future of humanity. Our long-standing call based on the understanding that "the world is bigger than five" is an expression of humanity's shared future beyond a critique directed at the current system.

"THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL HAS BEEN CONDEMNED TO THE WILL OF ONLY FIVE COUNTRIES"

The United Nations, established to maintain peace and security after World War II, unfortunately, cannot fulfill its primary function in the face of the crises and conflicts we are currently experiencing. The Security Council, the most important organ of the UN, which was established with claims of justice and equality, has been condemned to the will and interests of only five countries in its decision-making processes regarding regional and global crises.

The urgent need for reform of this unjust structure, which is among the main reasons for the unresolved issues of our time, is to make the UN an effective center of functioning multilateralism in accordance with its founding philosophy and to produce fair solutions to global problems.

"TURKEY HAS NOT SHIED AWAY FROM RESPONSIBILITY TO END CONFLICTS"

Despite the void caused by the UN's loss of effectiveness and the multilayered geopolitical challenges, Turkey places dialogue and mediation diplomacy at the center of its foreign policy. The Black Sea Grain Initiative we recently implemented is the clearest example of how this approach has made concrete contributions to both regional and global security and stability. Turkey has never shied away from taking responsibility to end conflicts and open the doors to sustainable and just peace across a wide region extending from the Caucasus to Africa, from the Middle East to the Balkans.

Turkey's diplomatic vision is evident not only in resolving crises but also in humanitarian dimensions. Turkey being one of the world's largest humanitarian aid providers is a manifestation of the responsibility that our deep-rooted history and values impose on us. On this basis, Turkey will resolutely continue its role as a leading country that strengthens global solidarity.

"GAZA IS ONE OF HUMANITY'S GREATEST TESTS OF CONSCIENCE"

The ongoing Israeli occupation and atrocities in Gaza are one of the greatest tests of humanity's conscience. This test results in shame for all of humanity, especially the actors of the international system. Children and women are losing their lives, and millions are deprived of basic needs. Turkey continues its efforts tirelessly to ensure a ceasefire, uninterrupted humanitarian aid, and the revitalization of the two-state solution. The aid we have sent, exceeding 100,000 tons, is just one of the steps we have taken to heal the wounds of our brothers struggling with hunger under Israel's inhumane blockade.

"RECOGNIZE THE STATE OF PALESTINE"

In a scene of brutality where dozens of innocent Palestinians die daily from hunger, lack of medicine, or the bullets and bombs of Israeli occupation forces, we believe that the international community must display a more determined and sincere stance. The truth we insistently and courageously express is once again clear: A just peace is only possible with the Palestinian people achieving statehood based on the 1967 borders, with territorial integrity and its capital in East Jerusalem. This is a necessity for lasting peace and stability in the Middle East. Our call to world states is clear: "Recognize the State of Palestine." Indeed, the recognition of Palestine is the strongest response that can be given against occupation, blockade, and oppression. We congratulate the countries that recently announced they would make decisions in this direction; we expect them to be consistent in their decisions and to turn their commitments into concrete steps.

"REBUILDING SYRIA IS INDISPENSABLE FOR STABILITY IN THE MIDDLE EAST"

Syria is another important country for regional stability. The ongoing conflicts in Syria since 2011 have caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, displaced millions, and led to significant destruction. Today, rebuilding and revitalizing Syria is indispensable for the stability of the entire Middle East. Every step taken regarding Syria's future must prioritize the interests of the Syrian people.

"WE WILL CONTINUE TO DEFEND THE PRINCIPLE OF RESPECT FOR SYRIA'S TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY"

It should also be known that lasting stability and peace in Syria will only be possible by considering the common will of all Syrian people without granting privileges to any affiliation or group. As we emphasize in every context, we will continue to defend the principle of "respect for Syria's territorial integrity and political unity." Turkey opposes any initiative that excludes the will of the Syrian people and opens space for separatist ambitions and terrorist organizations. The only way to repair the mistakes made in Syria over the past fourteen years is to establish a stable state and societal order and to provide support based on a cooperative security understanding.

In light of our painful experiences, we know that a future dominated by truth, justice, and solidarity can only be built with our common will. Turkey will continue to lead humanity's march towards a dignified and just future with this awareness of responsibility.
