Iraqi Interior Minister Abdulamir al-Shammari ordered administrative penalties for some officers who walked over the U.S. flag laid on the ground during an event held in the Tuzhurmatu district of Salahaddin province.
DISCIPLINARY ACTION WILL BE TAKEN
Minister al-Shammari has reportedly instructed the transfer of a brigadier general and two colonels from the ministry who participated in an event organized by the public during Ashura ceremonies to border units. It was stated that the decision to prohibit individuals belonging to security units from participating in political or diplomatic events is based on central directives. It was emphasized that such actions could cause problems in Iraq's foreign relations and lead to diplomatic tensions.
