In the Derince district of Kocaeli, Deputy Mayor Taner Elyıldırım went to inspect a confectionery factory with the municipal police teams. Serious hygiene deficiencies were identified in the factory, and it was determined that expired products were present, along with a staff dormitory located near the kitchen. Elyıldırım reacted by saying, "How are you producing food here? This place is filthy."
In Kocaeli, Derince Deputy Mayor Taner Elyıldırım, along with municipal police personnel, inspected a business operating in Çenedağ Mahallesi Kırım Street that produces sweets. During the inspection, deficiencies in the kitchen and production areas of the business were identified one by one.
"THIS PLACE IS FILTHY"
Seeing the unhygienic production environment, Elyıldırım addressed one of the staff, saying, "How can you produce food here? This place is filthy. Is this acceptable? The cleaning buckets are here. The condition of this place is very bad, it can't be like this. What is this?"
The teams also examined some oil cans used in production. Deputy Mayor Elyıldırım stated that these products were not in compliance with the food code and that their expiration dates needed to be checked. Additionally, waste accumulating in areas like under the sink, dirty materials, and unhygienic floors drew attention. It was also reported that the business was using spoiled products.
SLEEPING QUARTERS NEXT TO THE KITCHEN
It was also determined that the business used as a food production facility had staff sleeping quarters and personal living areas located in or near the kitchen. Elyıldırım emphasized that "There cannot be a sleeping area in the dining area, friends. There is a clear article in the regulation" highlighting that this situation is completely against the regulations.
"THERE IS NO DEFENSE FOR THIS"
After the inspection, Deputy Mayor Taner Elyıldırım stated that production could not be carried out under these conditions, saying, "I will not let the people of Derince eat this. There is no defense for this. As a municipality, we will not allow it." Elyıldırım also instructed the teams to immediately take the necessary legal actions regarding all identified irregularities and even to implement a closure.
Legal action was initiated against the relevant business, and it was sealed off from operations.
