Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, pointing to the developments happening in the world, stated, "The doomsday clock is ticking and approaching midnight. It is important to prevent this. We are actively working to ensure that this disaster does not occur."

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the increasing military tension around Iran could undermine regional and global security, saying, "This bloody and destructive event does not contribute to the normal development of the peoples in the region."

According to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lavrov visited Turkmenistan, where he was received by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and met with Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov. Lavrov and Meredov signed a cooperation program between the Russian and Turkmen Foreign Ministries covering the years 2025-2026. After their meetings, the two ministers met with the staff of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry and the teachers and students of the International Relations Institute affiliated with the Ministry.

"TWO WORLD WARS ARE NOT ENOUGH FOR EUROPE, IT SEEMS"

In his speech here, Lavrov evaluated the possibility of a Third World War, stating, "This issue is being discussed a lot now. This is particularly sad due to the presence of revengeful, aggressive, militant sentiments in Europe. It seems that two world wars are not enough for the leaders of EU member countries."

"THE DOOMSDAY CLOCK IS TICKING"

Pointing out that global security is at risk, Lavrov said, "The Doomsday Clock is ticking and approaching midnight. It is important to prevent this. We are actively working to ensure that this disaster does not occur." Lavrov noted that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is realistic and prudent, emphasizing that this is a positive development.

"EXTREMELY WORRYING"

Addressing the situation in the Middle East, Lavrov stated, "The increasing military tension around Iran is extremely worrying. This could lead to the undermining of regional and global security." He pointed out that following Israel's attacks, the U.S. has conducted strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities, stating that these actions are contrary to international law and the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), and that they condemn this. Lavrov said, "We call for all necessary steps to be taken to end the aggression and to turn the situation around Iran into a political and diplomatic channel. There are signs that all countries, including the parties involved, are beginning to realize this."

Recalling that Russia had previously made proposals regarding the resolution of the U.S., Israel, and Iran issues, Lavrov expressed their readiness to consult on these matters and to continue contacts with the parties involved. Noting that U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, Lavrov emphasized that this is a positive signal, stating, "The U.S. made initially promising statements from Israel and Iran yesterday, but subsequently contradictory statements were made. This bloody and destructive event does not contribute to the normal development of the peoples in the region." Minister Lavrov stated that Turkmenistan is a neutral country and could serve as a platform for negotiations on many issues.
