The Communication Presidency's Disinformation Combat Center made consecutive statements regarding two separate claims circulating on social media. The DMM reported that both the images shared about illegal entries into Turkey from the Iranian border and the claims that Turkey supports attacks against Iran do not reflect the truth.
Official statements have been made regarding the claims circulating on social media following the increase in military tension in the region after Israel and the USA attacked Iran, and Iran responded.
The Disinformation Combat Center (DMM) announced that the images claiming illegal entry from Iran to Turkey do not reflect the truth and that the allegations that Turkey supports attacks on Iran are completely unfounded. The center emphasized that only official statements should be considered against misleading shares.
"BORDER IMAGES ARE OLD AND OUT OF CONTEXT"
In a statement from the center, it was noted that the images circulated on some social media accounts claiming illegal crossings from the Iranian border to Turkey contain disinformation.
It was stated that the images are old recordings with an uncertain time and place, and they have been deliberately circulated again following recent regional developments. It was emphasized that there is no concrete data regarding the connection of the shares to the Turkish border line.
The statement expressed that such content aims to create a negative perception in the public by targeting border security. It was reported that Turkey's border security is continuously ensured through multi-layered systems based on a 24/7 principle.
"TURKEY DID NOT SUPPORT ATTACKS ON IRAN"
DMM also categorically denied the claims circulating on some social media platforms that "Turkey has supported recent attacks on Iran."
The statement emphasized that the Republic of Turkey would not allow the use of air, land, and sea elements, including airspace, for operational purposes in any conflict or war in which it is not a party, in favor of any side. This is noted as one of Turkey's fundamental foreign policy and security principles.
"OUR SOVEREIGNTY RIGHTS ARE COMPLETE AND UNDISPUTED"
The statement indicated that Turkey's sovereignty rights over its air, land, and sea territories are complete and undisputed, and that all activities related to sovereignty areas are carried out solely in accordance with national security assessments and under the supervision of authorized authorities.
The center called on the public not to give credence to speculative and unfounded claims and to consider only the statements of official authorities.
"WAR IS STARTING" CLAIM
On the other hand, DMM also made a statement regarding expressions shared on social media that citizens should make various preparations with the claim that "war is starting."
DMM stated that the shares contain disinformation, saying, "Turkey's security and defense processes are carried out with effective capacity in coordination with the relevant institutions; there is no situation that would cause panic in the public. Legal processes against these accounts, which aim to lead society into fear, anxiety, and chaos, are being carried out decisively."
