Dow Rebounds From 600-Point Loss To Close Positive

Precious metals mixed.

The Dow rebounded from a 600-point deficit Friday to close in positive territory.

The blue-chip rose 8.77 points, or 0.03%, to end at 31,261 points. The S&P 500 added 0.57 points, or 0.01%, to finish at 3,901.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq, on the other hand, fell 33 points, or 0.3%, to 11,354.

The VIX volatility index, known as the fear index, rose 0.3% to 29.43.

The dollar index added 0.3% to 103.01, but the 10-year US Treasury yield decreased 2.4% to 2.785%.

Precious metals were mixed with the price of gold rising 0.24% to $1,846 but silver lost 0.8% to $21.75.

Crude prices were up almost 1%. Global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading at $112.66 for a 0.55% daily gain, while US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was at $110.31 -- a 0.4% increase. -
