During the urban transformation works in the Yalı neighborhood of Maltepe, an 11-story building collapsed. As concrete and debris broke off from the building during the demolition, they scattered onto the road; the fact that no one was passing by at the moment of the collapse prevented a potential disaster.

In the Yalı neighborhood of Maltepe district in Istanbul, a part of the 11-story building being demolished as part of urban transformation suddenly collapsed during the demolition.
DISASTER WAS AVERTED
As a result of the collapse, concrete and debris pieces that broke off from the building spilled onto the street, blocking vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The fact that no one was passing by on the road during the collapse prevented a disaster. Upon notification, police and municipal teams were dispatched to the scene. An investigation revealed that there were no casualties or injuries.
The municipal teams took precautions by setting up a security cordon around the area. While work has begun to clean up the debris scattered on the road, investigations regarding the incident are ongoing.
