A cigarette butt thrown from a driver's vehicle ignited dry grass and caused a fire. Teams passing by the scene extinguished the fire by pouring water before it could spread. This incident once again highlighted how carelessness can lead to significant consequences.
Carelessness and insensitivity have once again resulted in a fire hazard. A driver who threw a cigarette butt from his car caused the dry grass by the roadside to catch fire. Fortunately, a potential disaster was averted thanks to the timely intervention of teams passing through the area at that moment.
"HERE ARE THE FIRES THAT BURN US..."
Those who watched the footage of the incident expressed their reactions on social media. Users rebelled against insensitivity with comments like, "This is how the fires that burn us start," and "Almost a forest would have burned because of a cigarette butt."
MINISTER YUMAKLI ALSO WARNED
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Yumaklı provided information about the ongoing fires during a press conference, warning citizens, "Not only in our country but also around the world, similar meteorological events are occurring. Please do not light fires outdoors. Even if it’s just a spark, whatever you are doing, do not do it. What tires us the most is the opening of new fronts in the fight against forest fires, which we describe as a war. If that insensitivity and indifference in Buca had not existed today, we would have been giving you good news about the Ödemiş fire. But our forces are divided, and our friends are tired. We have been fighting this for 10 days. We are on alert until October 15, but as of today, let’s spend this week without lighting fires outdoors or doing anything that could cause a fire. We do not want to boast about extinguishing every fire; let’s take pride in preventing fires from starting," he said.
