HÜDA PAR submitted a bill to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey that proposes allowing employees to be considered on leave during Friday prayer times. If the proposal becomes law, public and private sector employees will be granted leave during Friday prayer hours. The justification emphasized that the freedom of worship is a constitutional right and that this regulation would contribute to workplace harmony and spiritual peace.
The Free Cause Party (HÜDA PAR) submitted a bill to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey regarding the right of employees to be considered on leave during Friday prayers. If the proposal is enacted, both public sector employees and private sector employees will be considered on leave during Friday hours.
The bill titled "Proposal for Amendments to the Civil Servants Law and the Labor Law" was submitted to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly by HÜDA PAR Chairman and Istanbul Deputy Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu, Gaziantep Deputy Şahzade Demir, Batman Deputy Serkan Ramanlı, and Mersin Deputy Faruk Dinç. The proposal foresees that both public sector employees and private sector employees will be considered on leave during Friday prayer hours.
HERE ARE THE REASONS FOR THE PROPOSAL
The justification of the bill states: "Although the Constitution envisions the freedom of worship, religious rites, and ceremonies as a duty of the state to prepare the necessary conditions for the development of a person's material and spiritual existence, there can be problems and difficulties for employees in both the public and private sectors in fulfilling their worship. Especially during times when Friday prayers coincide with working hours, these problems and difficulties increase, and it can sometimes be impossible for employees to perform the Friday prayer, which they are obliged to fulfill due to their beliefs.
"FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF A PERSON'S INNER PEACE..."
This situation leads to negative consequences not only for a person's spiritual existence and development and inner peace but also for workplace harmony and productivity. Taking into account social demands and needs, a legal regulation has been proposed to enable the performance of the important worship of Friday prayers when it coincides with working hours. Thus, it is aimed to strengthen the use of the freedom of worship under constitutional guarantee, contributing to the development of a person's spiritual existence, societal peace, and workplace harmony."
