Henricus Theodorus, a 62-year-old who came to Bodrum from the Netherlands with his family for a holiday a few days ago, went missing while wandering in Bodrum center. A search operation was launched after he was not heard from since midday.
SHOPKEEPER NOTICED HIM, NEVER LEFT HIM ALONE
Theodorus, who was determined to have reached Bitez Mahallesi on foot from Bodrum center, was noticed by a local shopkeeper. Suspicious of his condition, the shopkeeper followed the tourist and ensured his safety. The attentive shopkeeper, who did not leave the tourist's side while he was sitting on a bench across from the courthouse, reported the situation to police teams.
SOCIAL MEDIA AND TEAMS' EFFORTS PAYED OFF
Upon the report, police teams arriving at the scene, along with hotel owner Mehmet Ayaz, took the Dutch tourist into custody and brought him to his hotel. Hotel owner Mehmet Ayaz stated that social media posts and coordinated efforts by security teams were effective in finding the tourist. Meanwhile, it was learned that Henricus Theodorus occasionally experiences forgetfulness due to his health condition.
