The French economy came to the forefront due to a severe wave experienced on the business front in 2025. Official data revealed that 68,500 companies ceased operations throughout the year. This figure has been recorded as the highest bankruptcy level in recent years.
BLOOD LOSS DEEPENS
Bankruptcy data showed that the blood loss in commercial life deepened in 2025. The number of bankruptcies increased by 3.4% compared to the previous year. Additionally, it exceeded the "normal" averages considered during the 2010-2019 period by 23%. The increase in bankruptcies for the fourth consecutive year weakens expectations for economic recovery, while experts evaluate this process as a "crisis of payment capacity."
WIND OF BANKRUPTCY IN TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE
The increase in 2025 was felt much more prominently in certain sectors. Compared to the pre-pandemic period, the most notable rise was observed in the transportation and storage sector. It was noted that bankruptcies in this sector increased by 61%, while in information and communication, it rose by 42%, in automotive trade by 40%, and in accommodation and restaurants by 34%.
