Businessman Murat Osman Özdemir, who has been detained in Silivri Prison for 6 months, broke his silence through a special letter he wrote. Özdemir, the former husband of singer Ebru Gündeş, stated that he trusts Turkish justice, denied organized crime allegations, and reacted to his name being mentioned in cases where he is not even a suspect. Emphasizing that he comes from a nationalist family, Özdemir said, 'I will continue to proudly advance on the path of our esteemed President.'
Singer Ebru Gündeş's ex-husband, businessman Murat Osman Özdemir, who has been detained in Silivri Prison for about 6 months as part of an investigation, broke his silence through a private letter he sent to Diriliş Postası writer Bilal Özbilge.
Making striking statements regarding the allegations and the judicial process against him, Özdemir reiterated his confidence in Turkish justice while reacting to the damage to his reputation in the public eye with baseless claims.
“I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I HAVE NOT GIVEN UP MY FAITH IN THE SUPREME TURKISH JUDICIARY AND JUSTICE SYSTEM”
In his letter, stating that he sees his experiences as a test and bears no grudge against anyone, Özdemir said, "I have not had and will not have any anger or resentment towards anyone because of the process I am in and what I have experienced. I want you to know that I believe this process will end as soon as possible, and I have not given up my faith in the Supreme Turkish Judiciary and justice system."

Sharply criticizing the discomfort he feels from his name being dragged into different investigations and debates in the public eye recently, Özdemir clarified some allegations in the media. Underlining that there is no organized crime accusation against him, the businessman issued the following warning about cases where he is not even a suspect or witness: "I kindly request that my person not be associated with individuals, files, or events I have no involvement in. It upsets me that my name is brought up without basis."

Stating that he received a nationalist family upbringing and has always prioritized the values of homeland, nation, and state above all else, Özdemir concluded his letter with future messages and a call: "Anyone who knows me knows that I will continue to proceed with honor and courage under the shadow of our flag, on the path of our President. My only goal is to be together in peace with my family, children, and loved ones."
Addressing the press, Özdemir also expressed that he expects everyone to show sensitivity in line with media ethics to protect his family and personal honor during the ongoing judicial process.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Ebru Gündeş had her fourth marriage with businessman Murat Osman Özdemir in Dubai in February 2024. This short-lived marriage ended amicably in a single session on September 27, 2025.
Özdemir's name had come up in the investigation into the criminal organization led by Selahattin Yılmaz. Taken into custody in August 2025, Özdemir was referred to the courthouse after police procedures and was released after his statement to the prosecutor. Özdemir was arrested in December 2025 as part of the same investigation.
