While waiting for the announcement of the first interest rate decision of the new year on Thursday, January 22, economists participating in the AA Finance survey predict that the Central Bank will lower the policy interest rate by 150 basis points to 36.5% in January.
Economists participating in the AA Finance expectation survey expect the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) to lower the policy interest rate by 150 basis points to 36.5% in January.
EXPECTATION OF INTEREST RATE CUT FROM ECONOMISTS
The expectation survey conducted by AA Finance regarding the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting of the CBRT scheduled for January 22, Thursday, was completed with the participation of 46 economists. Among the economists participating in the expectation survey, 3 predicted a 100 basis point cut, 42 predicted a 150 basis point cut, and one predicted a 200 basis point cut.
EXPECTATION TOWARDS "150 BASIS POINT CUT"
The median of economists' expectations for the January MPC decision was towards a 150 basis point reduction in the policy interest rate to 36.5%. The policy interest rate expectations of the economists participating in the survey ranged between 36% and 37%. The median of economists' year-end policy interest rate expectations was 28%.
In the MPC meeting held in December last year, the policy interest rate was reduced by 150 basis points to 38%.
