In September, the United Kingdom, which recognized Palestine as a state, saw its arms sales to Israel reach a record level of nearly 1 million pounds in 2025.

According to the trade data of the UK and Israel, arms sales from the UK to Israel reached a record level of nearly 1 million pounds in 2025.

ARMS SALE WORTH 1 MILLION POUNDS FROM THE UK TO ISRAEL

Last month, the UK's arms sales to Israel, which recognized Palestine as a state, broke records. According to a report prepared by British Channel 4 television based on data obtained from Israel and the UK, the UK sold arms worth nearly 1 million pounds (approximately 56 million lira) to Israel in the first 9 months of 2025.

RECORD BROKEN

This sale, which is more than twice the amount of each of the last 3 years, revealed that the UK set a record in arms sales to Israel as of 2025. Of these sales, 400,000 pounds (approximately 22.5 million lira) were made alone in June, making it the month with the highest sales since January 2022. The second month with the highest sales was recorded as September, with arms sold worth 310,000 pounds (approximately 17.5 million lira).

While the data does not clearly specify which military equipment the UK sold to Israel, many products fell under the categories of bombs, grenades, torpedoes, missiles, and ammunition. Of the 150,000 pounds (approximately 8.5 million lira) sale made in August, 20,000 pounds (approximately 1.1 million lira) was categorized as "ammunition."

While the data does not show the buyers of the products, it is unknown whether those who received these military products sold them to other countries.

"WE TAKE OUR ARMS CONTROL SYSTEM VERY SERIOUSLY"

In a statement regarding the news from the UK government, it was stated, "We do not sell bombs and ammunition to the Israeli army for use in operations in Gaza and the West Bank. The products listed in the data are for civilian use or are products that are resold by Israel without ever being used. We take our arms control system very seriously and have taken every possible measure to ensure that our military exports are not licensed for use by the Israeli army in perpetuating the ongoing horrors in Gaza."

In a statement from Israel regarding the issue, it was noted that more information could not be provided due to Israeli tax laws, and it was expressed that the products mentioned in the news might not be ammunition or weapons. Last year, the UK suspended approximately 30 arms export licenses to Israel.

As of July 2025, the UK has approximately 347 licenses in effect for arms exports to Israel, and the government stated that these products are intended for defensive purposes, not offensive ones. The UK, which produces some parts for the F-35 used by Israel, cited the production of these parts as part of the global F-35 pool and stated that they are not sold directly to Israel as a reason for not halting their sale.
