Following the incident of dead fish washing up on Turan Beach in Bayraklı district on August 20th and the emergence of a bad odor problem, works continue to identify the source of pollution and prevent it. Fish deaths were also observed intensively today in Aksoy Neighborhood of Karşıyaka district, where the sea water turned green and brown. It was observed that numerous dead fish surfaced and washed up on the shore. The citizens who were walking on the beach also reacted to the situation.
MUNICIPALITY TEAMS COLLECT DEAD FISH
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality teams are working to collect the dead fish in the sea. The first meeting of the "Izmir Bay Coordination Board," established by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change to conduct research and propose solutions regarding mass fish deaths and pollution, was held last week under the chairmanship of Minister Murat Kurum.
