ERDOĞAN'S GIFT MAKES HEADLINES IN BELGIUM
The fact that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gifted a custom-made revolver with the leaders' names engraved on them, along with a box of ammunition, to the leaders attending the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government in Ankara continues to make headlines in the international press.
After it emerged that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer could not take the revolver to the UK due to legal regulations in his country, a striking claim has now surfaced regarding Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever.
ALLEGEDLY OPENED THE GIFT IN BELGIUM
According to reports in the Belgian press, De Wever and his accompanying delegation opened the gift given to them after leaving Ankara, upon landing in Belgium. It has been alleged that upon discovering the revolver with name engraving and live ammunition inside the box, the weapon was handed over to the airport police stationed at the Melsbroek Military Airbase near Brussels. It was stated that a final decision regarding the fate of the weapon has not yet been made.
STARMER ALSO COULD NOT TAKE IT TO HIS COUNTRY
Earlier, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also announced that he could not take the revolver gifted by Erdoğan to his country. Starmer stated that he left the revolver in Ankara due to the UK's regulations on arms imports.
