The President of the Antalya Branch of the Chamber of Food Engineers, Ali Manavoğlu, warned, "Those who produce alcoholic beverages with flavoring from ethyl alcohol sold in containers on the internet are selling alcohol in plastic bottles through social media groups or acquaintances. Do not buy or consume alcohol sold in plastic bottles. It can lead to death; do not consume alcohol sold at low prices in plastic bottles, even if it is made by someone you know or your sibling."
Ali Manavoğlu, the President of the Chamber of Food Engineers Antalya Branch, pointed out that ethyl alcohol is being sold online under the label of surface cleaner, and some of them have writings like 'Suitable for food use, drinkable'. Emphasizing that the sale of ethyl alcohol is conducted under specified conditions, Manavoğlu drew attention to the use of drinks made from ethyl alcohol. He stated that mixing ethyl alcohol with a certain amount of aroma and selling drinks in PET bottles threatens public health, saying, "Do not buy alcoholic beverages sold in PET bottles. It can lead to death."
"IT CAN LEAD TO DEADLY CONSEQUENCES"
With the approach of the New Year, Manavoğlu emphasized that the preference for consuming fake alcohol has increased, stating, "The mixing of methanol, which is cheaper than ethyl alcohol, leads to situations that can cause blindness, organ loss, and death. Although the formulation of methanol is close to ethyl alcohol, it can lead to deadly consequences. If you are buying a product that costs 100 units for 5 units in inappropriate packaging, you are facing danger," he said.
"IT'S VERY EASY TO ACCESS SUCH PRODUCTS"
Manavoğlu, who noted that ethyl alcohol can be accessed online and through social media, said: "It is very easy to access such products. They are sold on some websites, and we see comments claiming they are drinkable agricultural products. They can be easily reached through sales channels on social media. Its sale needs to be prevented. We see that many brands are produced as imitations, adulterated, and sold in identical packaging with copied labels. Especially with the end of the year approaching, fake alcohol frequently appears in the market."

Manavoğlu stated that alcohol products should not be purchased from unreliable, unknown sources, websites, chat applications, and social media. He explained that alcohol production kits and fermentation equipment are being sold online, saying, "Consumers must not forget that they can go blind, lose organs, and even die due to possible wrong applications in home alcohol production with these products."
"DO NOT CONSUME IT EVEN IF YOUR BROTHER DOES"
Manavoğlu stated that ethyl alcohol is shipped with different invoices labeled as surface cleaner or cologne, saying: "Some people set up a system in their homes and produce drinks with ethyl alcohol bought in bulk online. The alcoholic beverage produced is not actually a drink because the production techniques of drinks are different. These individuals produce drinks using ethyl alcohol, sometimes mixed with different chemicals that are also used as disinfectants, aromas, and mixtures. They sell this on social media to friends and different people. We see that they sell it in plastic water bottles, using inappropriate packaging. It is absolutely necessary not to consume drinks that come in such packaging. Ethyl alcohol is bought in bulk online. We encounter citizens who use amateur applications, taking 96% ethyl alcohol-based disinfectants to prepare drinks. Do not consume drinks sold cheaply in PET bottles, even if a friend or your brother makes them."
