The doctor Salvador Plasencia, determined to be responsible for the death of famous Friends actor Matthew Perry, was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison in a case tried in federal court. It was found that Plasencia continued to provide high doses of illegal substances despite being aware of Perry's history of addiction and that he exploited this for commercial gain.
A critical development has occurred in the investigation into the death of Matthew Perry, the famous star of the TV show Friends. Doctor Salvador Plasencia, who provided illegal ketamine to the actor, was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison after pleading guilty in federal court. It was revealed that Plasencia continued to administer high doses despite Perry's history of addiction and that he "capitalized on it as a business opportunity."
HE HAD ACCEPTED THE CHARGES
Plasencia had accepted four separate charges related to illegally supplying and distributing ketamine in July 2025. The prosecution emphasized that the doctor created "a deadly risk for commercial gain" by providing high amounts of ketamine despite knowing about Perry's addiction history.
DETAILS THAT SPARKED OUTRAGE
According to court records, Plasencia obtained ketamine from another doctor to sell to Perry; he personally administered some injections while teaching the actor's assistant how to do others. One of the details that drew outrage in the case was the doctor's correspondence, in which he referred to Perry as "I wonder how much this moron will pay."
Although prosecutors requested at least 3 years in prison, the court decided on a 30-month sentence, and Plasencia was sent directly to jail after the hearing.
Perry's family has made strong statements throughout the process, while other defendants mentioned in the actor's death—a doctor, Perry's assistant, and a drug dealer—are also expected to appear before the judge soon.
While the investigation continues, the true source of the lethal ketamine dose that led to the famous actor's death is also being investigated.
