Speaking at a rally organized by his party in the Güngören district of Istanbul, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced their proposal for the minimum wage. Özel stated, "The country is in such a dilemma that for those receiving the minimum wage, it is very little, and for those paying it, it is high. Minimum wage earners cannot make ends meet with this salary. The minimum wage must be 39,000 lira. Today, our proposal is that the minimum wage should be 39,000 lira. It is not enough, but it will provide some relief. The state needs to step in here. The minimum that is deserved is at least 39,000, and we will not accept anything below that."
