The timeless giant of world music, Sir Rod Stewart, scared his fans during a concert in Utah. While singing on stage, the 81-year-old rock star struggled to breathe and nearly died, prompting the concert to be stopped for emergency oxygen treatment.
Rock music legend Rod Stewart had to pause his concert and use an oxygen tank after almost fainting on stage.
The 81-year-old rock star struggled to stay on his feet while performing his classic hit song "Young Turks" during a concert in Utah. Footage shared on social media showed the singer in distress and having difficulty breathing.
When the song ended, Stewart held onto a screen to stay upright and urgently asked staff to bring him an oxygen tank. A crew member quickly ran onto the stage to fit him with an oxygen mask, while two others placed a cold towel on the star's neck as he appeared to stagger.
"THE SHOW MUST GO ON"
After receiving oxygen and taking a short break, Rod Stewart stood up and addressed the audience:
"The show must go on. I was trying to dance, but I almost passed out."
Easing the tension with jokes for the audience, the famous singer asked if he could perform his next hit while sitting on the stage steps. With the crowd's approval, the rock icon finished the rest of the concert seated in a chair.
HEALTH ISSUES PERSIST
The famous artist has been experiencing health problems one after another recently.
Last month, after doctors advised him to rest his vocal cords, Stewart canceled two concerts at the last minute at the famous Caesars Palace / The Colosseum in Las Vegas. Earlier this month, he postponed some Las Vegas shows after his doctor recommended "more rest" to fully recover from the flu.
Diagnosed with laryngitis, four concerts in Nevada and California were canceled, while two others were postponed. In a statement from the artist's team on Instagram, it was said:
"Rod Stewart has unfortunately had to cancel his concert tonight in Chula Vista, California. Despite every effort to perform at the venue, due to doctor's advice and a diagnosis of laryngitis linked to an acute upper respiratory infection, he is unable to take the stage tonight."
The rock legend, who canceled his concert in San Diego, USA due to health issues, was seen supporting Scotland at a World Cup match with his sons and wife just a day later. Stewart, who was in the stands during Scotland's 1-0 victory over Haiti, faced heavy backlash from his fans.
