A terrible accident occurred during the Paragliding World Cup qualifiers held at Hasan Mountain in Aksaray. The 57-year-old athlete Cengiz Kalyoncu suffered serious injuries due to a hard landing. Kalyoncu was taken to the hospital but unfortunately could not be saved despite all efforts.
Paragliding pilot Cengiz Kalyoncu, who participated in the Paragliding World Cup qualifiers held at Hasan Mountain, lost radio contact shortly after takeoff.
HE LOST HIS LIFE
Following this, the parachute team tracked the GPS signal and found Kalyoncu severely injured on the ground in the rural area of Helvadere Town.
It was assessed that Kalyoncu made a hard landing and was taken to Aksaray Training and Research Hospital by the ambulance that was called. Kalyoncu could not be saved here.
HE WAS FAREWELLED ON HIS LAST JOURNEY
Kalyoncu's body was brought to his hometown Gaziantep after the autopsy procedures. His funeral was held after the prayer at Nakıboğlu Mosque at noon and he was laid to rest in the municipal cemetery.
