Fenerbahçe made a call to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) ahead of their big match against Trabzonspor. The yellow-navy team reiterated their request for foreign referees, stating, "Seeing that our opponent shares a similar stance regarding administrative concerns shows how justified and common this request is. At this point, we are clearly expressing our position in order to ensure justice."

Fenerbahçe made a call to the TFF following a harsh statement regarding referee Mehmet Türkmen, who will officiate the match against Trabzonspor.
FENERBAHÇE: "WE WANT JUSTICE"
In a statement published under the title "We want fair officiating," it was stated, "Our expectation for the match we will play against Trabzonspor this weekend is clear: Just like in the last derby, let our team not be hindered by petty whistles, and let the better team win on the field. When these conditions are met, we firmly believe that Fenerbahçe will progress decisively on the path to the championship. Seeing that our opponent has a similar stance regarding administrative concerns shows how justified and common this demand is. At this point, we clearly express our stance for the sake of justice," the statement read.
FULL STATEMENT OF FENERBAHÇE
The full statement of Fenerbahçe is as follows;
"Our demands for foreign referees and foreign VAR since the beginning of the season are for the establishment of a fair and clean management understanding in Turkish football.
Our expectation for the match we will play against Trabzonspor this weekend is clear:
Just like in the last derby, let our team not be hindered by petty whistles, and let the better team win on the field.
When these conditions are met, we firmly believe that Fenerbahçe will progress decisively on the path to the championship.
Seeing that our opponent has a similar stance regarding administrative concerns shows how justified and common this demand is.
At this point, we clearly express our stance for the sake of justice.
Indeed, our head coach has demonstrated how impartial he is by making comments about the relevant referee after both the matches we won and lost.
We would like to emphasize once again that Fenerbahçe's side is always on the side of justice.
Our club never compromises its principles for the sake of momentary interests."
STATEMENT FROM THE TRABZONSPOR SIDE
Trabzonspor Club Vice President Taner Fikret Saral reacted to the appointment of referee Mehmet Türkmen for the match against Fenerbahçe on Sunday, April 6, in the 30th week of the Trendyol Super League, by addressing the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). In a statement published on the club's website under the title "The salt has now spoiled," Saral stated, "While our team has had 30 points stolen during the 30-week league process, the appointment of the same referees for 18 of our matches is no longer a coincidence but a clear organized operation."
Using the expression "The names are clear, the table is disgraceful," Saral added;
"Mehmet Türkmen 5 matches (including this weekend, 6th time), Cihan Aydın 4 matches, Zorbay Küçük 4 matches, Ali Şansalan 3 matches, Kadir Sağlam 2 matches. After the appointment of a foreign referee for the Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe match, we officially applied to the Turkish Football Federation on February 24, 2025, to convey our request for foreign referees. This legitimate and justified application has been left unanswered. As if that wasn't enough, now, Mehmet Türkmen, who is at the center of this setup, a confirmed Fenerbahçe supporter, who is a fan of Mourinho on one hand and has been honored by Mourinho as 'my favorite referee,' has been appointed for the Fenerbahçe match we will play this weekend, making a conscious challenge. Moreover, just two weeks ago, the ridiculous penalty he awarded in the Başakşehir match is still fresh while this appointment has been made. Trabzonspor is the conscience of football in this country. It will never bow to injustice and unfairness."
WHEN IS THE BIG MATCH?
Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor will face off in the 30th week of the Trendyol Super League. The big match at Kadıköy will start on Sunday, April 6, at 19:00. The match will be officiated by referee Mehmet Türkmen.
