Fenerbahçe Beko's American basketball player Nigel Hayes-Davis issued an apology after a post he made during his visit to the so-called genocide museum in Armenia. The American basketball player Nigel Hayes-Davis, who plays for Fenerbahçe Beko, faced backlash for a post he made during his visit to the so-called genocide museum in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. After the yellow-blue officials informed him about the sensitivity of the issue, Davies deleted the post and also made a statement.

"I DID NOT WANT TO BE DISRESPECTFUL"

The American basketball player published a statement after deleting his post, saying, "I have learned that the topic I posted about regarding Armenia and Turkey is very sensitive. Although I have tried to learn, I do not know everything. I would like to express that I do not intend to show any disrespect towards Turkey, its history, or its citizens, due to my appreciation and respect for everything Turkey has offered me personally and professionally."

"MY CHARACTER ELIMINATES MISUNDERSTANDINGS"

Hayes-Davis also mentioned that those who know him are aware of his sincerity in what he says, adding in his statement, "Those who know me personally and have talked to me about this issue will know that what I said is true and heartfelt. I am not Turkish, so I could not understand the weight this issue carries for those who are Turkish. I hope what I have said here will eliminate any misunderstandings or misinterpretations about my actions and, more importantly, my character. I want to express to everyone who has been hurt by this that it was not my intention."
