Emre Yılmaz, a 35-year-old businessman in Samsun, turned his Mercedes passion, which began with toy cars in childhood, into a large collection in 12 years. Yılmaz, who has bought 17 vehicles so far, converted a section of his workplace into a garage museum. Among the 6 classic cars exhibited in the museum is a 1974 model Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC belonging to Filiz Akın.
A businessman from Samsun's love of cars, which began with toys in childhood, turned into a Mercedes museum when he grew up. The businessman exhibits many original classic automobiles in the museum in his garage, and his vehicles are priceless.
Emre Yılmaz, 35, who was interested in toy cars as a child, over time turned his childhood passion for automobiles into a large collection. Yılmaz, a graduate of maritime and port management, converted part of his workplace into a garage and exhibits the rare and classic Mercedes vehicles he has collected for years there. Yılmaz, who is interested only in rare and limited-production Mercedes models, has bought 17 vehicles so far. In Yılmaz's exhibition, where he carefully maintains the 6 special automobiles in the collection displayed in his museum, there are also cars previously used by Filiz Akın and famous names in Yeşilçam. Yılmaz, who for a long time did not sell the vehicles in his collection even to Turkey's most famous names, now replaces vehicles that have been waiting in the museum for a long time when he finds a new collectible vehicle.
MERCEDES LOVE STARTED WITH TOY CARS
Emre Yılmaz, stating that his interest in classic automobiles and especially Mercedes began with toy cars in childhood, said, "The love of Mercedes comes from the toy cars we played with when we were little. Over time, I created a small museum for myself. We exhibit the vehicles we have collected and restored to customers who come to the museum. I started the Mercedes collection 12 years ago. I started this business by restoring a 1977 model Mercedes 280 S vehicle I bought from Trabzon. Over time, my hobby expanded to 7-8 vehicles. With the vehicles I collected, I created this museum garage. The vehicles continue to multiply. Currently in my garage we have a 1992 model Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, Mercedes-Benz 500 SEC (wide body kit, Japan), a 1963 model Mercedes-Benz W111 220 S Heckflosse, a 1974 model Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC belonging to Filiz Akın, a 1989 model Mercedes-Benz 124 Coupé, and a 1982 model Mercedes-Benz 280 Coupé currently on display. With these vehicles, we offer our customers a beautiful visual delight," he said.
HIS EYE IS ON A VERY RARE MODEL
Yılmaz, drawing attention to the fact that his current collection goal is the 190 E 2.5-16, one of Mercedes' rare classic automobiles, said, "In the next process, I want to add a few more models to my collection. If we can find clean, easily restorable vehicles, there are models I want to add one or two more. I would very much like to add a Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 to my collection. It is a very rare vehicle, but if I can find it, I can add it. We previously had its 2.3-16, but if I can find it, I would like to add the 2.5," he said.
Yılmaz added that he takes the vehicles exhibited in the museum outside in good weather and tours the city.
