The leader of the Newborn Gang, Fırat Sarı, who was found to have referred babies to hospitals with which they had agreements to gain unjust profits and caused them to die due to negligent behavior, has also been revealed to have defrauded his own accomplices. A defendant who testified in court stated that Sarı did not pay the gold he received from nurse Mehtap Sayar and the 150,000 lira he received from his assistant.

The trial of the Newborn Gang, consisting of 47 defendants accused of deliberately causing the death of many babies in Istanbul, continues. Interesting confessions are also coming out in the hearing held in the conference hall of Bakırköy Courthouse.

FRAT SARI HAS NOT PAID BACK THE DEBT HE OWED TO NURSES

The defendant nurse Sümeyye Taşçı, who is the assistant of gang leader Fırat Sarı, stated that Sarı defrauded her and another nurse. Taşçı noted that Sarı owed her 150,000 lira and gold to the other nurse, and that he has not paid his debt.

THERE ARE 12 BABIES IN THE EXPERT REPORT, 10 IN THE INDICTMENT

Meanwhile, the statements of 13 defendants have been completed in 3 days, leaving 34 defendants remaining. The expert report indicates that this gang has caused the death of 12 babies, but the indictment includes 10 babies. In the courtroom, only the lawyer of baby Kaya is asking questions. Only the lawyers of 3 families attended the hearing.

FROM THE INDICTMENT

In the indictment, for the defendants Fırat Sarı and İlker Gönen, a total of 177 years and 6 months to 582 years and 9 months in prison is requested for the crimes of "causing death by negligence," "qualified fraud," and "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," 10 times, and for the crime of "forgery in official documents," 11 times.

For the defendant Gıyasettin Mert Özdemir, a prison sentence of 180 years to 589 years and 9 months is requested for the crimes of "causing death by negligence," "unlawful acquisition of personal data," "fraud to the detriment of public institutions and organizations," "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," and "forgery in official documents."

Similar prison sentences are also anticipated for the other defendants.
