The first footage of Sadettin Saran, the President of Fenerbahçe Sports Club, who was detained as part of a drug investigation, has emerged. After his detention, Saran was brought to the hospital for a health check by gendarmerie teams, and he was captured on camera. Following the procedures that lasted throughout the night, he is expected to be brought to the courthouse today.
Sadettin Saran, the President of Fenerbahçe Sports Club, who was summoned for his statement as part of a drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and tested positive for drugs at the Forensic Medicine Institution, was detained by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams based on additional evidence obtained in the investigation for the charges of drug procurement, facilitating drug use, and drug use.
WILL BE BROUGHT TO COURT TODAY Sadettin Saran, who was detained, was taken to the hospital by gendarmerie teams for a health check. While Saran was first seen after his detention, his procedures at the gendarmerie continued throughout the night, and he will be brought to court today.
FIRST STATEMENT FROM FENERBAHÇE Fenerbahçe Club announced that President Sadettin Saran has been detained, stating, "We fully believe that our president will overcome this process with the same prudence and composure as he has until now."
In the statement made by the yellow-navy blue club, it was noted that President Sadettin Saran was detained by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command, and the following expressions were used: "Our President Mr. Sadettin Saran has been detained this evening by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command as part of the ongoing investigation from the Fenerbahçe Presidency. The investigation in question is still ongoing, and the process is being carried out within the framework of the principles of the rule of law, under the authority and responsibility of the relevant authorities. We fully believe that our president will overcome this process with the same prudence and composure as he has until now. The works carried out in line with the interests of our club will continue uninterrupted; our president Mr. Sadettin Saran will continue to work decisively for our club, leaving these days behind. Our Divan Board President Şekip Mosturoğlu, our board members, our club lawyers, and the lawyers of our president Mr. Sadettin Saran are accompanying him in this process."
WHAT HAPPENED? As part of the drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes Investigation Bureau, an investigation was initiated against Saran for the crimes of "procurement of drugs" and "facilitating drug use," and a directive was issued for him to be prepared at the courthouse for his statement.
Saran, who was abroad and came to Istanbul, arrived at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan on December 20 and gave a statement to the public prosecutor conducting the investigation. After completing his interrogation at the prosecutor's office, Saran was referred to the Forensic Medicine Institution (ATK) for hair and blood samples to be taken. After his procedures were completed there, Saran was brought back to the Istanbul Courthouse.
Saran was referred to the peace criminal court with a request for judicial control in the form of a travel ban abroad for the crimes of "procurement of drugs," "drug use," and "facilitating drug use," and the court issued a judicial control measure in line with the request.
In the report prepared by the ATK, it was determined that Saran's hair samples tested positive for drugs, while the test results for blood, urine, and nail samples were negative.
