After being beaten following a harassment claim and referred to disciplinary proceedings by the CHP with a request for definitive expulsion, Edirne Deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan broke his silence. Denying the allegations, Yazgan claimed that he was hit on the head with a hard object and suspected that he was given medication, asserting that what happened was a planned conspiracy aimed at detaching him from the CHP and directing him toward the YENİ Party.
Edirne Deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan, who was beaten at a house where he was attending a birthday celebration in Edirne on allegations of harassing a woman and subsequently referred to disciplinary proceedings by the CHP administration with a request for definitive expulsion, responded to the accusations against him. Yazgan categorically denied the allegations and claimed that the incident was a planned conspiracy against him.
"THEY HIT ME ON THE HEAD WITH A HARD OBJECT, AND I WAS GIVEN DRUGS"
Deputy Yazgan, who argued that the "sexual harassment" allegations against him were baseless, made striking statements to journalist Talat Atilla about the night of the incident. Stating that the incident did not take place at his own home and that he went to that address upon an invitation, Yazgan expressed suspicion that he was given drugs, saying the following:
"It is definitely slander. The incident did not happen at my home. I went there upon the invitation of the woman who filmed the video. They hit me on the head with a hard object. I think I was given drugs. I lost consciousness. I definitely did not say those ugly words attributed to me."
"THE GOAL IS TO SEPARATE ME FROM CHP AND STEER ME TOWARD THE NEW PARTY"
Yazgan, who claimed that the violent incident and the images that spread afterward were part of a political engineering, emphasized that he expected support from his party as well. Stating that the incident was staged with a two-pronged strategy, the CHP deputy continued his remarks as follows:
"I believe this is a two-pronged trap. It was done both to separate me from CHP and to steer me toward the new party. I am the victim here. I believe that CHP should protect its deputy who is the victim. I will provide my more detailed statement and the information I have to the prosecutor's office."
WHAT HAPPENED?
The incident occurred around 03:15 on August 13, 2026, in Edirne. Police teams were dispatched to the address upon a "fight" report from apartment residents.
In the initial meeting at the scene, CHP Edirne Deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan stated that he had been assaulted, his phone had been taken, and his image had been recorded during the assault, and he filed a complaint.
During the search, Yazgan's mobile phone was found under the refrigerator and returned to him.
The statement of N. D., who was detained due to the incident, included details about how the night began and how the argument turned into a fight. D. said she did not know Yazgan before he arrived at the house and that a mutual argument and scuffle occurred in the later hours of the event.
HE SAID, "I AM A DEPUTY, NO ONE CAN TOUCH ME"
According to D.'s statement, the incident began on the night of August 12 at a restaurant due to T. A.'s birthday and continued at Aka's home afterward.
D. recounted that while leaving the restaurant around 00:15, Yazgan met them, congratulated the birthday, and later they went to A.'s home.
Stating that Yazgan arrived at the house about 10-15 minutes later, D. said they drank alcohol and chatted together for about two hours.
D. stated that around 03:00, as they were preparing to leave, Yazgan said to her, "You get up, I'll just have a quick fling and leave," and that she did not understand what he meant.
D. claimed that Yazgan then cursed at her and that the girls also reacted to this conversation, at which point the argument began.
D. stated in her statement that Yazgan told her, "I am a deputy, no one can touch me, I can do whatever I want," upon which she made a countermove toward him and a scuffle ensued between them.
"HE LIFTED ME OFF THE GROUND AND SAT ME ON THE CONCRETE FLOOR"
D. recounted that during the scuffle, she and Yazgan fell to the ground together, and then she retaliated to defend herself.
According to her statement, she lifted Yazgan from the ground, sat him on the concrete floor, and gave him his phone, asking him to call his driver.
D. stated that when Yazgan said his driver was a person named Y., she called Y. on the phone, but Yazgan could not speak because he was drunk.
Claiming that after Y. arrived at the house, Yazgan continued to threaten them, D. said that about 10-15 minutes later, Y. came to the house with another man.
"HE BROKE A GLASS, AND THE GLASS PIECE WOUNDED ME"
D. stated that after Y. and the person with him entered the house, they intervened to take Yazgan away.
In her statement, she said, "The two men who came took him by the arms, and just as they were taking him out onto the balcony, Baran YAZGAN gained courage from them and attacked us again."
D. claimed that during this time, Yazgan broke a glass and threw the glass pieces toward her. In her statement, she said, "He broke the glass and threw the shards at me. While I was trying to grab the glass to defend myself, the inside of my right palm was cut."
D. also claimed that her female friend B.Ş.'s right heel was wounded during the incident.
ALLEGATIONS OF INSULTS AND ASSAULT
According to the statement record, upon the noise coming from the balcony, watchmen and police teams arrived at the scene. D. claimed that after the police arrived, Yazgan continued his insults and attempts to attack them. Stating that the police teams tried to separate the parties, D. noted that T. A. was also beaten during the incident and fainted briefly.
According to her statement, the police then separated the parties and took Yazgan to the parking area.
"WE DID NOT FORCEFULLY KEEP HIM IN THE HOUSE"
In her statement, D. also argued that she and the others did not forcibly keep Yazgan in the house.
Explaining that Yazgan's phone was not hers, and that after the confusion regarding the phone, the device was found and handed over to the police, D. said they were taken to the hospital after the incident.
At the end of her statement, D. alleged that Yazgan attacked them and that she retaliated to defend herself and the girls.
"I do not accept the accusations leveled against me. I am a PLAINTIFF and COMPLAINANT against Ahmet Baran YAZGAN," said D., also requesting the return of the mobile phone taken by the police.
