Severe rainfall affecting Syria's Aleppo, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, Hasakah, Hama, Homs, and Latakia provinces caused flooding. In incidents caused by severe rainfall and floodwaters, 5 people, including four children, lost their lives. Teams rescued 50 people trapped in vehicles in the floodwaters and safely evacuated two schools with more than 350 students.
It was announced that infrastructure was damaged in the regions of Aleppo, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, Hasakah and Homs, while it was reported that transportation was disrupted on some bridges. As a result of the collapse of al-Salmani Bridge west of Tabqa due to floodwaters, the road between Raqqa and Aleppo was closed. 15 civilians whose vehicles were stranded in the floodwaters were rescued.
THE REGION WAS SUBMERGED
Within the scope of ongoing rescue and evacuation efforts in the region, evacuation operations were carried out in the Kesra Surur area in rural Raqqa, which was submerged after the collapse of an earthen embankment and where more than 100 families were affected.
In addition, approximately 375 families staying in the Sehl al-Banat, al-Yunani and al-Maks camps in rural Raqqa, which were damaged by floods, were transferred to safe areas. While teams carried out water drainage and drying work in more than 200 public areas such as homes, hospitals, schools and bakeries, more than 40 vehicles stranded in the flood were also towed to safe areas.
