Iran's state television IRIB announced that the Siccil ballistic missiles were used for the first time during Operation "Wave 54" on the 16th day of the ongoing conflict with the US and Israel. It is reported that the Siccil, one of Iran's most advanced solid-fuel medium-range missiles, has a range of 2,000–2,500 kilometers and can be launched from mobile platforms. Iran claims that if launched from Natanz, the missile could reach Tel Aviv in approximately 7 minutes.
As the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran continue into their 16th day, the conflicts have spread across a wide area of the Middle East. Missiles from Iran and Hezbollah have triggered sirens in Israel, while US bases in Iraq and Kuwait have also been targeted.
A FIRST SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE WAR
As tensions rise in the region, Iranian state television IRIB announced that it has fired Siccil ballistic missiles as part of Operation "Wave 54." According to the statement, Siccil missiles have been used for the first time since the beginning of the war. Siccil is noted as Iran's most advanced solid-fuel medium-range ballistic missile.
IT MEANS "BAKED CLAY STONES"
The name of Iran's ballistic missile "Siccil" is derived from the Surah Al-Fil in the Quran. In Surah Al-Fil, it is narrated that Allah sent the birds Ababil against the army of Abraha, who came with elephants to destroy the Kaaba, and that these birds dropped "siccil," meaning "baked clay stones" or "hardened clay stones," on the army. These stones destroyed Abraha's army.
AN ADVANCED LEVEL IN MISSILE TECHNOLOGY
By naming this missile "Siccil," Iran has used a religious reference and symbolically emphasized the missile's destructive power. Originally developed to replace Shahab missiles, Siccil demonstrates that Iran has reached an advanced level in missile technology with its fuel type and two-stage structure. According to experts, Siccil missiles can be deployed much faster than their liquid-fueled predecessors, increasing the chance of launch before being targeted.
