In a program he attended, Mehmet Metiner, a member of the AK Party from the 26th term, praised the Hezbollah terrorist organization. Arguing that Hezbollah is not at war with the state, Metiner said, "What do we say to the PKK today? What did Bahçeli say? So why should we deny Hezbollah the opportunity we have given to the PKK? Today, Hezbollah is not at war with the state, but the PKK is."

26th Term AK Party Deputy Mehmet Metiner participated in the Discussion Ground program on Ekol TV. Mehmet Metiner spoke highly of the terrorist organization Hezbollah, which has previously carried out numerous attacks and assassinations against state officials and institutions, particularly mentioning the Gaffar Okkan murder and conflicts with the Istanbul Police Department. Metiner argued that the PKK is at war with the state and referenced MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli's call for terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan, stating that Hezbollah should also be given a chance.

PRAISES FOR HEZBOLLAH

Metiner, who said, "If HÜDA PAR were based on an armed terrorist organization, I would say it should be immediately closed," claimed that he knows Hezbollah best. He expressed that he was a friend of the organization's slain leader and that he knows all of its leadership. Mehmet Metiner stated the following live:

"If HÜDA PAR were based on an armed terrorist organization, I would say it should be immediately closed. I know the organization called Hezbollah best. The slain leader was my friend, my companion. I know all of the leadership until the last one. I do not defend the actions and logic in any way. To me, violence, terrorism, and weapons are not the solution to anything. So what is Hezbollah? At a time when the PKK was trying to establish dominance in the region, they said, 'Either you obey us or you leave the region.' At that time, Hezbollah said, 'I am here, I am not going anywhere, no matter the cost.' They were wrong to do this. They have also done things to other Muslim communities. They have done things to me personally as well. Nevertheless, I do not give up on truth and justice. They have never been at war with the state. Their method is wrong."

COULD NOT ANSWER THE GAFFAR OKKAN QUESTION

In response to TV General Manager Şaban Sevinç's question, "Wasn't the killing of Gaffar Okkan an act of declaring war on the state?" Metiner replied:

"Let's say there is a group that caused Gaffar Okkan's death. Let's say they did it. Hezbollah has never been at war with the state outside of the Gaffar Okkan incident. Let's say it happened in the past. What do we say to the PKK today? What did Bahçeli say? So why should we deny Hezbollah the opportunity we provided to the PKK? Today, Hezbollah is not at war with the state, but the PKK is. Therefore, HÜDA PAR is not the party of Hezbollah. Even if it were, it is not an organization at war with the state. There is no such organization. You are cooperating with the organization of a party that is at war with the state. But when it comes to HÜDA PAR, you argue that it should not be in the parliament."

HEZBOLLAH'S LEADER WAS KILLED IN A VILLA RAID

The conflict that occurred on January 17, 2000, made headlines in Turkey. On January 17, 2000, the head of the organization, Hüseyin Velioğlu, was killed in a villa where a violent clash took place between the Hezbollah terrorist organization and the Istanbul Police Department.
