Former football player Ümit Karan and 13 others, who were detained at the airport as part of a drug investigation in Istanbul, were arrested by the magistrate court to which they were referred.
Former football player Ümit Karan, who was detained in a drug investigation, has been arrested.
The procedures of 23 suspects detained as part of the drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office have been completed at the Istanbul Courthouse.
ÜMIT KARAN AND 13 OTHERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED
The suspects whose statements were taken at the prosecutor's office, Ümit Karan, Timuçin Ünal, Gökmen Gürdeğir, Orhan Aydın, Emircan Şahin, Emre Yalçın, Gökhan Gümüş, Nuray İstek, Deniz Berk Cengiz, Murat Sönmez, Hakan Tunçbilek, Ahmet Şaşmaz, Melis Sabah, and Nazlıcan Taşkın, were referred to the peace criminal court with a request for arrest.
Fatih Gürdeğir, Ali Gürbüz, Emir Sağıroğlu, Ulaş Yağmur, Burak Doğan, Mert Ayaydın, Merve Duran, Bade Nogay, and Çağla Boz were sent to the peace criminal court with a request for judicial control.
The court decided to arrest 13 suspects, including Ümit Karan, while applying judicial control measures for 9 suspects.
It was learned that suspect Ümit Karan was arrested on charges of "selling, offering for sale, giving to others, transporting, carrying, storing, purchasing, accepting, possessing" drugs or stimulants without a license or in violation of the license.
NAZLICAN TAŞKIN FAINTED
Meanwhile, suspect Nazlıcan Taşkın, who was requested to be arrested, could not be questioned by the court as he was taken to the hospital during the procedures at the courthouse. It was learned that the suspect's questioning would take place after his hospital procedures.
As part of the drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 23 suspects, including former football player Ümit Karan, were transferred to the courthouse in the morning after their procedures at the police station.
