The legendary Fenerbahçe player and former national team coach Ogün Altıparmak has passed away at the age of 86. Altıparmak, who wore the yellow and navy blue jersey for 7 years, was the first player to hold the title of top scorer in the Süper Lig for Fenerbahçe.

Ogün Altıparmak wore the Fenerbahçe jersey for 7 years in two periods during his playing career. Altıparmak also played for Karşıyaka. Throughout his career, Ogün Altıparmak represented the A National Team 32 times.

In his coaching career, Ogün Altıparmak managed Giresunspor, Karşıyaka, and Erzincanspor.

We have lost our former executive, player, and member of the High Council (YDK) with registration number 1372, Ogün Altıparmak, who left a mark in Turkish football by achieving significant successes with our Fenerbahçe.

Ogün Altıparmak played for our football team between 1963-68 and 1969-71, winning 4 Turkish League titles, 1 Turkish Cup, 1 Presidential Cup, 1 TSYD Cup, 1 Atatürk Cup, 1 Spor Toto Cup, and 1 Balkan Cup, as well as achieving the title of top scorer.

Ogün Altıparmak also served as an executive in our club from 1986 to 1988.

We express our gratitude for all the victories he experienced with Fenerbahçe and all the efforts he contributed to our emblem, and we extend our condolences to his family, our community, and all his loved ones.

The funeral of the deceased will be held on February 3, 2025, Monday (tomorrow) at 14:30 at the Dereağzı Lefter Küçükandonyadis Facilities, and will be taken from Erenköy Galip Paşa Mosque at the time of the afternoon prayer, to be buried at Karacaahmet Cemetery."

WHO IS OGÜN ALTIPARMAK?

He started football at Karşıyaka at the end of the 1950s. In 1963, despite having a broken leg, he transferred to Fenerbahçe. Businessman Kadir Has played a significant role in facilitating this transfer. The goal-scoring player, who spent many years in the yellow-navy blue jersey, played as a right winger and striker.

He was part of the teams that won 4 league championships and the Turkish Cup for Fenerbahçe. Notably, Ogün Altıparmak became the top scorer in the 1970-1971 season with 16 goals. In the 1968-69 European Cup season, he scored one of the two goals in the match where Fenerbahçe defeated Manchester City 2-1 to advance to the next round, alongside Abdullah Çevrim. In 1968, he transferred to the USA and played for Washington Whips for one season. Between 1959-1971, he became the 5th player in league history to score over 100 goals, netting 106 goals in 306 matches played in the Turkish 1st League.

He played a total of 32 times for the Turkish national football team and scored 6 goals in these matches, captaining the team in two matches.

AFTER FOOTBALL

After retiring from active sports, Ogün Altıparmak entered politics and served as a member of the high council of Fenerbahçe SK with registration number 1372, during the presidency of Hasan Özaydın. During his tenure as the head of the Kadıköy district organization of the Motherland Party (ANAP), his party won general and local elections in Kadıköy. He rejected requests to run for mayor and parliament from his party. In 1987, he resigned after making some criticisms towards his party. Later that year, he joined the True Path Party (DYP). From the late 1970s, he was involved in import-export business and later began sports journalism. He served as a coach for Giresunspor for eleven weeks in the 1971-1972 season. He also held an executive position at Fenerbahçe Sports Club in 1986-1987.

PERSONAL LIFE

Ogün Altıparmak graduated from İzmir Commerce High School and then from İzmir Higher School of Economics and Commerce. After completing his military service as a reserve officer teacher in 1964, he enrolled in the İzmir Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences and completed his undergraduate education there. He is married to Esin Ayyıldız and has two sons named Okan and Batur. His younger son, Batur Altıparmak, developed through Fenerbahçe's youth academy and after becoming a professional in this team, played for Gaziantepspor, Çengelköyspor, Fenerbahçe again, MKE Ankaragücü, Zeytinburnu, and Şekerspor before retiring from football in 2001 to become a manager.
