Rıdvan Can Kayakurt, who set a house on fire in the Ula district of Muğla, injured two gendarmerie personnel with a knife when they were dispatched to the address following a tip-off. Kayakurt, who took one of the gendarmerie's weapons and opened fire on the teams, was neutralized after being shot. He later died in the hospital where he was taken.

SET FIRE TO THE HOUSE

The incident occurred around 09:00 in the Gökova neighborhood of Ula. Rıdvan Can Kayakurt set fire to a house belonging to Nail Mücek (33) and entered the house belonging to Nevzat Gültekin (60) with a knife in hand. Upon the notification of the surrounding people, gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the address.

Kayakurt attacked the arriving gendarmerie teams with a knife. In the ensuing struggle, two gendarmerie personnel were stabbed. At that moment, Rıdvan Can Kayakurt took a weapon belonging to one of the gendarmes and opened fire on the teams. Despite the warning shots from the gendarmerie, Kayakurt, who resisted, was shot. The injured Rıdvan Can Kayakurt died in Muğla Training and Research Hospital, where he was taken by ambulance. Kayakurt's body was taken to the Muğla Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy. It was learned that the health condition of the gendarmerie personnel is good.

DRUG ADDICT

While an investigation into the incident was initiated, two public prosecutors were assigned. It was determined that Rıdvan Can Kayakurt, who was reported to be a drug addict, had a criminal record for 'drug use'. The investigation related to the incident is ongoing.
