In an evaluation of current issues during his visit to the Haberler.com studios, Ahmet Davutoğlu, the leader of the Future Party, sparked a new debate with his response to the question, "Do you owe your presence in the Parliament to the CHP?"
The General Chairman of the Future Party, Ahmet Davutoğlu, answered the questions of News Director Olgun Kızıltepe and host Melis Yaşar regarding the agenda on the Haberler.com broadcast.
"WE OWE NOTHING TO CHP"
In response to the question, "Do you owe your presence in the Parliament to CHP?" Davutoğlu said, "We do not owe anything to CHP. I have never owed anything to anyone in my life. Look, I have neither a penny of debt to a person nor a political debt to anyone. I owe nothing to anyone. I have come to where I am by the blessings and support of my nation given by my Lord. When I say blessings, I mean the blessing of intellect... I am not a child of an aristocrat. I am a person who has come out of a village in Anatolia, I have come through my own efforts. I have not chased after anyone. If I had not been a good scholar, no one would have made me a chief advisor. If I had not been a good chief advisor, no one would have made me the Minister of Foreign Affairs. If I had not been a good Minister of Foreign Affairs, I could not have been Prime Minister. But I have always thanked the President due to his favor," he said.
“WHY DID WE SUPPORT KILIÇDAROĞLU?”
Continuing his remarks, Davutoğlu evaluated the May 14, 2023 elections, saying, "I am speaking to the CHP side. What debt do I owe you, for God's sake? What debt do I have? Do you have any contribution in my life? My books, my ideas, my thoughts... On the contrary, you have acted against strategic depth. So why did we come together? To be clear, it was to prevent you from harming these large masses with a vengeful impulse after an election. Let's be together: democratic nationalists, democratic conservatives, democratic secularists, social democrats, and prevent revenge. I express clearly and unequivocally; we made an agreement to prevent Turkey from falling into that revenge. We supported your presidential candidate," he stated.
"IF THEY HAD WON THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION..."
Emphasizing that if CHP had won the presidential election, they would have applied revenge first to themselves, Davutoğlu said, "I am someone who has fought fiercely with Kılıçdaroğlu in two elections. By sacrificing from my own self, we have ensured that ten people become members of parliament. Look at the votes of CHP in Şırnak and Konya. Look at the changes in these places. It was an agreement, it was an alliance. What everyone took and gave is clear. Okay, the alliance is over now. But I understand that if they had won the presidential election, they would have applied revenge to us first. They could not tolerate it. My only intention was to prevent Turkey from falling into a trap of revenge. Is that danger over now? It is still not over. In 2028, this logic will still be there... The logic that cannot even tolerate us... We see what CHP logic can lead to," he expressed.
