Former US President Barack Obama sharply criticized President Donald Trump at a rally in Atlanta, Georgia, held for the Democrats' midterm election candidate. Arguing that Trump had started "an unnecessary war that nobody wants," Obama recalled that during his own term he had made a deal with Iran through diplomacy. Saying that the midterm elections were the "best chance" to rein in the Trump administration, Obama said, "This is something dictators do."

With days to go until the US midterm elections, Obama, at a rally held to support Democrats, targeted the Trump administration’s Iran policy, immigration practices, and the Trump family’s business activities.

“AN UNNECESSARY WAR NO ONE WANTED”

Speaking at the rally in Atlanta, Obama criticized Trump and the US government’s decisions. Obama said, “The current President chose to make a series of wrong decisions. The most important of these was starting an unnecessary war that no one wanted.”

“I DIDN’T NEED TO FIRE A SINGLE MISSILE”

Referring to the nuclear deal made with Iran during his own term, Obama said:

“Iran. The initial rationale was to go there and make them give up their nuclear weapons and nuclear programs, but Iran did not have a nuclear weapon. We had stopped their nuclear programs. As everyone acknowledged, I had signed an agreement that prevented them from having a nuclear weapon. I did not need to fire a single missile. I resorted to diplomacy.”

“IRAN NOW HAS VETO POWER OVER HORMUZ”

Making assessments about the war between the US-Israel and Iran, Obama used the following statements: “Our allies and bases were attacked. Americans were killed. Hundreds of Americans were wounded. We depleted our missile stockpiles, which made us more vulnerable, and Iran now has veto power over the Strait of Hormuz, through which a large portion of the world’s oil passes to reach consumers.”

Drawing attention to the fact that the war is not over yet, Obama said this was the reason for price increases in many products, especially gasoline and diesel, and that this situation would continue as long as the war continued. Claiming that current government officials are not “serious people,” Obama said, “We are all paying the price for their lack of seriousness.”

“I DON’T REMEMBER ANYONE ASKING FOR MASKED AGENTS”

Reminding that he was criticized during his own term for his decisions regarding the US border, Obama said: “But I don’t remember anyone asking for this administration to send masked agents running around our streets. I also don’t remember anyone talking about law-abiding citizens being arrested and detained, shot and killed, and children being taken from their parents.”

“DICTATORS DO THIS”

Claiming that Trump earned “billions of dollars” during his term, Obama said, “We can no longer keep track of all the deals he and his family have made. Meme coins, contracts financed with taxpayers’ money for his children’s companies.” Obama used the statements: “You cannot use the presidency and policies affecting Americans for your own interests. This is something dictators in other countries do, but we do not do this.”

“WE NEED TO FLIP THE CIRCUIT BREAKER”

Reminding that there are still 2 years left until the end of the Trump administration’s term, Obama said the midterm elections were the “best chance” against this situation. Arguing that it was important for the Trump side to lose in the elections, Obama said, “At least to rein him in, to say ‘Stop’ to some of the absurdities this administration has displayed. This is a kind of circuit breaker in the system; we need to flip it. We must start establishing an accountable order against this administration.”

EMPHASIS ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND CAMPAIGN FINANCE

Stating that regulations are needed so that the benefits provided by artificial intelligence reach everyone, not just a few billionaires, Obama emphasized that within this scope, the education system also needs to be restructured.

Arguing that the country’s governing system “does not work as it should,” Obama said: “One reason for this is the redrawing of electoral districts in line with political interests, and another reason is laws such as ‘Citizens United’ that allow wealthy and powerful people to finance elections. Hundreds of millions of dollars are flowing into elections. Partly because of this.”
