In the Çiftlikköy district of Yalova, 500 grams of scorpion venom hidden in a plastic bottle were seized from a vehicle stopped by the gendarmerie. Confirmed through laboratory analysis, the venom, used in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries, was determined to have been illegally brought into Turkey from Syria. With a market value of approximately 5 million dollars for 500 grams, legal proceedings have been initiated against two suspects.

Yalova Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams stopped a car registered under the name F.C.A. during an operation in the Çiftlikköy district as part of anti-smuggling efforts.

FOUND INSIDE A BOTTLE

During the search of the vehicle, approximately 500 grams of suspicious substance preserved in a plastic bottle was found. The substance, sent to Selçuk University Faculty of Science Biochemistry Laboratory for analysis, was confirmed to be scorpion venom.

BROUGHT FROM SYRIA

In the gendarmerie's investigation, it was determined that the venom was illegally brought from Syria by Syrian nationals I.A. and A.A., and buyers were being sought in Turkey.

VALUE OF 5 MILLION DOLLARS

The scorpion venom, which can be used in limited fields such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and scientific research and is therefore considered to find buyers at high prices in the illegal market, was confiscated. The substance, valued at approximately 5 million dollars, led to the initiation of legal and administrative proceedings against 2 suspects under Law No. 5607 on the Fight against Smuggling.
