President Erdoğan stated in his remarks at the Iftar program with Ambassadors, "It is becoming increasingly difficult for a Europe that does not include Turkey as it deserves to exist."
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered critical messages at the Iftar program with Ambassadors. In his statement, he said, "We see our membership process to the European Union as a strategic priority, as an inseparable part of Europe. Recent developments have once again highlighted the importance of Turkey-EU relations."
"IT IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT FOR EUROPE TO EXIST"
Erdoğan also stated, "It is becoming increasingly difficult for a Europe that does not include Turkey as it deserves to exist as a global actor. To be frank, European security cannot be imagined without Turkey."
Erdoğan's statements are as follows: "Our struggle, based on the motto 'The world is bigger than five', is not just about solving problems; it is about building a more inclusive structure to replace this global system that produces problems itself. I want to express once again clearly and unequivocally today. The time has long come for global decision-making mechanisms to adapt to the changing conditions of the world."
"WE WILL NOT BACK DOWN"
At the very least, the one-quarter of the world's population that consists of Muslims needs to be represented in decision-making processes as they deserve. The presence of an Islamic country with veto power in the United Nations Security Council is no longer just a need but a necessity. However, instead of moving towards a power-sharing based on justice, we see that the five permanent members are trying to suppress problems with brute force. Let it be remembered that as resistance to this wave of change continues, both the number and scale of our problems will continue to grow.
Of course, we are aware that our candid expression of all these realities does not please some of our friends. But we are a country that wholeheartedly believes in the principle that "A friend tells the bitter truth." Even if we face criticism, we have not shied away from stating what is right, what is true, and what is best for all humanity, and we will not back down from this in the future.
CEASEFIRE IN GAZA
Just as we strive to be the conscience of humanity in Gaza, we are also fighting to prevent civilian casualties in Ukraine with the same sentiment. While we continue to support Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, we believe that a possible solution cannot be achieved without both Russia and Ukraine. From day one, we aimed to produce solutions to the crisis without pouring fuel on the fire. Through initiatives like the Istanbul process, the Black Sea grain initiative, and prisoner exchanges, we have shown that negotiation and reconciliation can be possible despite the conditions of war.
We have repeatedly stated that formulas excluding any of the warring parties will yield no results. At this point, we are all witnessing how realistic and accurate these approaches are. I reiterate this fact once again today. Lasting peace is only possible with a just and honorable peace. The path to this goes through a negotiation process in which both sides are represented. We hope that everyone will see that our region has had enough of bloodshed and tears.
NOTABLE MESSAGE ON SYRIA
Israel cannot ensure its security by producing instability in the region. It will not find the peace it seeks in Israel without the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with geographical integrity. While we will support the Palestinian people, we will also follow up on the respect for the historical status of Jerusalem, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Esteemed Ambassadors, a new era has begun in Syria with the overthrow of the Assad regime on December 8.
Our greatest wish is to build a Syria that has ensured its territorial integrity and political unity, and is a source of security and stability for all its neighbors living side by side with different identities. We appreciate the efforts of the new administration to realize such a Syria and provide them with all necessary support.
