The Turkish Football Federation Arbitration Board rejected Galatasaray's appeal regarding the appointment of Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić for the Fenerbahçe derby to be played on Monday, February 24.
Galatasaray has reacted to the appointment of Slovenian referee Vincic for the Fenerbahçe derby and has taken the matter to the TFF Appeals Board. The board has responded to the yellow-red team's appeal.
CIMBOM'S REJECTION OF VINCIC APPEAL
The Turkish Football Federation Appeals Board rejected Galatasaray's appeal regarding the appointment of Slavko Vincic for the Fenerbahçe derby. The statement from the board is as follows;
"In the application dated 20.02.2025 of Galatasaray A.Ş.; the appeal regarding the appointment of a foreign referee for the match between Galatasaray A.Ş. and Fenerbahçe A.Ş. to be played in the 25th week of the Trendyol Super League Şamil Ekinci Season was examined. It was decided in the meeting of the TFF Board of Directors on 12.02.2025, under decision number 31, to authorize the Central Referee Board to appoint a foreign referee and the appeal against the decision to appoint a foreign referee was reviewed. As a result of the discussions;
- In the examination of the TFF Board of Directors' decision regarding its legality; since it was understood that there was no violation of procedure, substance, or regulations, the appeal was unanimously rejected,
- Regarding the request to annul the appointment of a foreign referee for the match between Galatasaray A.Ş. and Fenerbahçe A.Ş. to be played in the 25th week of the Trendyol Super League, it was understood that the decision subject to the appeal was not within the jurisdiction of the board, as determined by Article 2 titled "Jurisdiction of the Board" of the TFF Appeals Board Regulation, which limits the decisions that can be appealed. Therefore, the appeal was rejected on procedural grounds by a majority vote."
WHY DOES GALATASARAY NOT WANT VINCIC?
